We clocked some miles today on 4 tracks only to put 1 deer on a tailgate. The fact is that being successful doesn't always mean getting your picture made or putting your hands on a deer at the end of the line. The first track we took went just over 1100yds marking blood throughout the track and jumping the deer out of a bed, he looked quite healthy and we are sure he'll live to see another day. Second, we knew going into the track that we had very little chance of recovery but due to the caliber of deer and the hunter wanting to exhaust all efforts we took it anyways, we never came close to catching up with this deer, he never slowed down. Third, the hunter aired on the side of caution as he suspected he made a less then marginal shot, turns out just 175yds in he made a great shot! Forth, we took a track from yesterday that was previously tracked by another team. The hunter just wasn't pleased with how the previous track went and asked us to come out to verify. We put KL down at the hit site and after a few minutes settling in we locked in and off we went. We started marking dried blood just 40 yds into the track in the opposite direction the previous team went. We tracked this deer like it owed us money for 1.82 miles marking dried blood throughout to a property line we were not able to cross. We never found a bed or any indication of this being a mortal wound and left the hunter with some peace of mind. We excepted no money for this track as we gained a new hunter to track for and he already paid a previous team that didn't produce. So although TJ and KL only got to take one picture today we consider ourselves to of had a very successful day. Tomorrow is a new day!
