The Food Truck Summer Open Bonspiel is Back!

Summer’s calling and it sounds like rocks crashing and Jello shots landing!  The Windy City Curling Food Truck Open is back for 2026, serving up a weekend of curling, cold drinks, killer eats, and backyard chaos.  Sun’s out, brooms out… let’s get weird.

⭐WHEN: THURS AUGUST 27, 2026 - SUN AUGUST 30, 2026

⭐FORMAT: Open - Any mix of genders/order, *32 Teams - 3 Game Guarantee **. DRAWS START THURS MORNING

⭐COST:  $440/team or $110/individual

REGISTER:  Team or Individual
Individual registrants will be paired at our discretion. Who knows? You might meet your new curling Bestie.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

🐔SHENANIGANS: Much, often and with flare . . . No pun intended ;-)  . . . Stay tuned for details.

🍻BOOZE:  Unlimited select alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages provided all day while supplies last.  Cash Bar for specialty drinks.

🍟FOOD TRUCKS: are scheduled for Friday (Dinner) and Saturday (Lunch and Dinner), and are "pay your own way."  Please plan on supporting the food trucks as much as possible, to minimize any extra costs when minimums aren't met.  Your entry fee also Includes:

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Thursday

We're excited to welcome Margot Flemming to Windy City Curling's Skills Camp #4!

🏆 Margot Flemming is a six-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts competitor who has represented the Northwest Territories and Alberta on Canada's biggest stage. She has competed at the highest levels of Canadian women's curling, including the 2021 Olympic Pre-Trials, and has earned a reputation as one of the most versatile and dependable players in the game.

Most recently, she competed with Team Kayla Skrlik and joins Team Selena Njegovan for the upcoming season.

Known for her strong fundamentals, sweeping excellence, and team-first approach, Margot brings a wealth of high-performance experience and insight to curlers looking to elevate their game.

We're excited to announce the first three instructors for Skills Camp #4:

🏆 Brian Chick — One of the most respected coaches in curling, Brian has spent more than 25 years developing athletes from the club level to the world stage. A renowned coach, media professional, and author, his experience includes national teams, international high-performance programs, championship-winning curlers, and curling education initiatives around the world.

🏆 Chelsea Carey — Chelsea Carey is one of Canada's most accomplished curlers. A two-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion (2016, 2019), she has skipped teams to national titles, provincial championships, and appearances at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Widely recognized for her strategic approach, shot-making ability, and leadership on the ice, Chelsea is an outstanding instructor for curlers looking to elevate their performance.

🏆 Codey Maus — Three-time Ontario Junior Champion, Ontario Mixed Champion, Canadian Junior silver medalist, and longtime high-performance competitor. Codey has competed at numerous Ontario Tankards and national-level events, bringing a wealth of competitive experience and technical expertise.

Ready to take your game to the next level?
Join us September 4–6, 2026, for a full weekend of instruction, drills, strategy, and fun designed to help curlers of all experience levels improve every aspect of their game. Whether you're looking to sharpen your delivery, become a smarter skip, improve team communication, or gain a competitive edge, this camp is for you!

Over the course of the weekend, you'll work with experienced instructors both on and off the ice, covering topics including:

🥌 Delivery & balance fundamentals
🥌 Line of delivery & release
🥌 Sweeping technique
🥌 Weight control & timing
🥌 Communication & team dynamics
🥌 Strategy & reading the ice
🥌 Angles & shot-making
🥌 Skipping & game management
🥌 Mental toughness & competition preparation
🥌 And much more!

📅 Camp Schedule: • Friday afternoon (starting around 1:00 PM) • Saturday morning & afternoon • Sunday morning (finishing around noon)
The format mirrors a typical bonspiel weekend, with meals, snacks, and plenty of social time included.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and fellow Windy City Curling Club member, Simon Ganet, this past Saturday evening.

Simon was a longtime member of our club and a former President whose leadership and dedication helped shape Windy City Curling into the welcoming community it is today. His impact on our club and on so many of us personally will not be forgotten. His spirit will continue to live on through our community and the many memories we shared with him on and off the ice.

To honor Simon’s extraordinary commitment to our club and its members, our Volunteer of the Year Award is named in his memory.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 13th at 2:00 PM at Congregation Etz Chaim (1710 South Highland Avenue, Lombard, IL), with shiva gatherings to follow.
