*warning, this is a long one- but VERY worth the read. Some of you may relate to this client*
This client is one of the HARDEST working ladies in the room.
Our journey began in November. She was under eating, unable to lose the weight, and just so so frustrated. Not only did she want to lose the weight, she wanted to learn to keep it off & be able to enjoy food again.
The first few months were a little rocky, but any sort of lifestyle change will take time. This client struggled to be honest about her food choices & commit to getting out of her comfort zone. This is where weight loss begins, so there was minimal loss for a while.
Our first step was to increase her calories. I know, sounds counterintuitive. But isn’t it more counterintuitive to eat too little to lose weight, not enjoying yourself when you eat, and to be a stickler with the amounts of food your intaking for NO reason?
We sat her there for about 3-4 weeks. During this process (as she cleaned up her eating as well) she actually noticed she was losing body fat. This is a common occurrence when eating at a maintenence. You may also notice your hair is growing again. Your nails. You are sleeping & using the bathroom regularly again.
After becoming comfortable with eating LOTS of clean food, we started her first deficit phase. In this phase she lost 10 POUNDS! It could have been higher with a more intense training protocol, but this is where comes in.
I wanted her progress to continue at an average rate, but felt lost with my next decisions. We are on the right track, but I felt myself start to doubt the process.
I asked Alicia to help me out with this case study & lead me to the right next steps. THANKFULLY I was correct in my thinking, but we had to dial into her stress to continue her loss.
4 months into her deficit, she started to plateau for 3 weeks straight. This is where I made the decision to put her back at a maintenance again (just like Alicia suggested)
1 week into increasing, we noticed she lost almost 3 inches immediately. Her metabolism needed a break.
The photos on the left were her at the beginning of our journey. The photos on the right are her now, eating 2,000 CALORIES & 180g of CARBS!!! You heard me!
Food is NOT the enemy! It is FUEL!
The key to keeping the weight off is by understanding your intake vs outtake. (TDEE calculator will help)
If you’re constantly eating in a deficit, eventually your body becomes HUNGRY. This is where it holds on to stubborn fat, and why many plateau. You can fix this by eating less if you want- but eventually you are going to run out of food to eat less than! Your body requires more food than you think it does. STOP DEPRIVING IT. Feed it, and form a healthy relationship with macros and food. You need to eat less to lose weight- but less than what? If this sounds like your problem, please dm me! I’d love to assist you in LONG LASTING, TRUE Results, all while actually eating!
My books are now open for training, please DM me for more info!
