At our Vidor Invitational's Best of the Best Checker Tournament, we presented a very special award to a very special man Dr. Richard Beckwith.
The award "CHECKER'S BEST FRIEND." In my humble opinion, there is no one else more deserving.
He works tirelessly, not just for the game of Checkers, but for you the player. Vidor Checkers USA would not be able to do what we do without my friend.
Dr Beckwith is a Master player. He always plays excellent games wirh the world's best.
He is an excellent referee. He knows the rules. He keeps a cool head. He is always humble. He leads in a style that Checkers needs. It is an extremely difficult thing to do.. to play and referee at same time
He also gives. He never talks about what he gives. He would rather keep it behind the scenes. He helps so many with traveling. He helps them with visas and purchasing and money. He even picks them up from the airport a 100 miles away just to help me out...even when he is vrry tired...and never complains. He gives his time, money, his experience, his leadership.
Dr. Beckwith is the president and leader of the WCDF. He does so much for ACF. I am very proud to call him my friend. He is indeed CHECKER'S BEST FRIEND.
