Parents tell me all the time...
"She's just in her head."

They're right.

But being "in her head" isn't the problem.
It's a sign that her mind has left the present moment.
Instead of competing, she's thinking.
About the last mistake.
The next play.
What everyone else is thinking.

When athletes learn how to return to the present, they stop getting stuck in their heads and start trusting themselves again.

Parents often tell me...

*"She's so hard on herself."*

*"One mistake ruins her whole game."*

*"She loses all her confidence."*

What you're seeing probably isn't a confidence problem.

It's what she's saying to herself after the mistake.

Every athlete has that voice.

The difference is...

The best athletes don't believe everything it says.

That's a skill.

And like every other skill...

it can be trained.

Parents often tell me...

"My daughter just needs more confidence."

But confidence usually isn't the first thing she lost.

She lost the present moment.

Her attention shifted to the last mistake, the score, what everyone else was thinking, or whether she was good enough.

And when athletes leave the present...

Confidence leaves with them.

That's why I don't teach confidence first.

I teach athletes how to perform present.

Because **presence comes first. Confidence follows.**

Confidence isn't the first thing your daughter needs.

She needs to learn how to come back to the present moment.
Because when athletes stay present under pressure, confidence follows.

That's why I teach athletes to perform present.

Every time I stand in front of a room full of athletes, I think the same thing...

**Why aren't we teaching this sooner?**

We spend years helping athletes train their bodies.

More reps.

More lessons.

More practice.

But very few athletes are ever taught how to train the mind they compete with.

How to recover after a mistake.

How to trust themselves under pressure.

How to quiet their inner critic.

How to perform present.

That's why I do this work.

Because confidence isn't something athletes hope shows up on game day.

It's something they can train.

If you've been watching your daughter play one way in practice...

And a completely different way in games...

It isn't because she suddenly lost her ability.

There's usually something deeper happening.

And that's exactly what I help athletes train.

If you're wondering whether 1:1 mental performance coaching is the right fit for your daughter, send me a DM.

We'll talk about what's going on and whether I can help.

The standard is changing.

The next generation of athletes isn't just getting faster, stronger, and more skilled.
They're learning how to train their minds earlier than ever before.
Mental performance isn't something you work on once you're struggling.
It's part of becoming the athlete you say you want to be.

So here's the question:
Are you training your mind with the same intention you train your body?

If not...
Someone else is.

The standard is changing.

The next generation of athletes isn't waiting until college to train their mindset.

They're learning how to reset after mistakes.

Build confidence.

Handle pressure.

And perform when it matters.

Meanwhile, too many athletes still believe mental performance is something you work on only when things aren't going well.

It's not.

Mental performance is part of becoming the athlete you say you want to be.

The question isn't whether mindset training works.

The question is whether you're willing to train it before your competition does.

The conversations your daughter has with herself matter more than most parents realize.

Long before confidence shows up in her performance...

It shows up in her self-talk.

Every thought becomes evidence.

Every belief shapes behavior.

That's why mental performance isn't about "thinking positive."

It's about helping athletes build beliefs that allow their ability to show up when it matters most.

A parent sent me a message this week that simply said:
"I just want my daughter to find her spark again."

That message stayed with me.
Because I know she wasn't talking about skill.

She was talking about the athlete who used to play freely.
The one who smiled.
Trusted herself.
Competed without carrying the weight of having to prove she was enough.

The truth is...
Your daughter's spark may not be gone.
It may just be buried beneath pressure, fear, and the belief that every performance determines her worth.
And those beliefs can change.

❤️ If this resonated with you, save it for the next time you need the reminder that your daughter's confidence isn't lost—it's waiting to be rediscovered.
