The mental side of sports can be just as important as the physical.

Confidence, focus, resilience, and self-talk all shape how athletes respond to challenges, compete, and grow. Coaches and caregivers have the opportunity to help young athletes strengthen these skills by encouraging effort, embracing mistakes, and reminding them that their mindset is something they can develop over time.

PCA is proud to partner with ESPN and Disney on Take Back Sports, a national campaign to return youth sports to what really matters: the kids.

With growing pressure, early specialization, and intense sideline behavior, many children are leaving sports at an early age. Take Back Sports is a movement to bring back the joy, positivity, and fun that keep kids playing and thriving.

Through this initiative, parents are encouraged to reflect on their role and take small, meaningful steps to create a more supportive environment for all youth athletes.
