ON Wednesday May 18 at the Indianapolis 500, Senior James Crabtree participated in the inaugural EV Grand Prix sponsored by the United States Auto Club(USAC) and Purdue University. James was able to drive the Purdue School of Engineering go kart for this event. James qualified to start in 5th place for the race. Unfortunately, due to mechanical failures the cart came to a stop. James finished in 7th place for the 15 lap event. Austin Dennis and Levi Purvis attended the event as well and worked hard in the pit area helping out charging batteries and lifting the cart on and off of the transport. To enter the Grand Prix teams had to raise about $6000 dollars for entry fees, equipment, and the different parts that they needed to build their cart. I would like to give a special shout out to Danny White of Purdue University that allowed us to race the car that the School of Engineering built for us and waiving all fees for us this year. I am hoping we can return and raise enough money to compete again next year.

On an evening that could only be described as miserably rainy and cold, the Lady Pacers again showed the resilience of champions. Ignoring biting cold and a track that had puddles of standing water on it, the Lady Pacers determinedly pushed towards their goal of advancing to Regional in as many events as possible. I could not be more proud of how the girls shut the weather out of their minds and focused on the task at hand. It is a testament to their mental toughness that they were able to overcome the conditions so well. For complete results see the attachment at the bottom. For a list of Switzerland County athletes advancing to the Regional at Bloomington North next Tuesday look below.
