Player Spotlight – Caleb Allison

This week, Valor introduces Caleb “Wild Thing” Allison. Caleb just finished 5th grade at Dolly Ridge Elementary and will begin middle school at Pizitz in August. His favorite subject is math. His proud parents are Sam and Paige and he has an older brother Noah and older sister Leah. A few fun facts about Caleb: he loves traveling with family and has visited 45 states, he has been to 28 out of 30 MLB ballparks (going to Rockies and Twins this summer to finish the chase), he's been to the Masters 3 times, and he shot an 11-point buck earlier this year.

Valor is off to a 15-5 start for the spring 11U season. In addition to the OTM league against competitive local teams, we've entered two tournaments and come out as champions in both! These boys know how to play good baseball when they lock in and it's fun to watch them develop and grow in their knowledge of the game. Keep up the good work boys!

Wow what a season finale! The boys finished on a high note by winning their division in the Grand Slam Alabama State Tournament this weekend. Today's bracket games were "real baseball" against tough opponents with final scores of 4-3 and 3-0. We had some outstanding performances from our guys and it was a great finish to a fun 10U season.

This season, every player pitched for us. The majority of the team threw at least 125 live pitches and faced 50+ batters. We saw a ton of development from every player and more importantly, we saw good team chemistry and every guy ready to contribute however it was needed, no questions asked. That's a great recipe for success and created a memorable season.

THANKS AGAIN to our sponsors this year! Go Valor!

It's not how you start, it's how you finish! Valor brought home another championship this week in the USSSA Buffalo Wild Wings 10U Tournament at Calera. Winning tournaments is fun, but the real story of the day was that the boys showed some of that mental toughness and perseverance we've been learning this year. We did not play very good baseball during the 2 pool play games which put us at the bottom of the bracket. But then they flipped the script to win both bracket games against the same two teams that beat us earlier in the day!

This team is really fun to watch when they "lock in" and play to their abilities. They cheer on their teammates, build each other up, and have a ton of fun together. The goal for every tournament is to be the last team to leave the parking lot (which means you made it to the final game) and last night we left Calera at 10:36pm. Mission accomplished.

Great season so far guys...let's keep rolling!

Player Spotlight – Eli Ehmke

This week, which is also his birthday week, Valor introduces Eli “ICE” Ehmke. Eli is a 4th grader at Dolly Ridge Elementary. His proud parents are Josh and Anna Ehmke. He has an older brother and younger sister and falls right in the middle of the 2. When he grows up, Eli wants to pitch for the Atlanta Braves.

Eli’s favorite thing about baseball is the opportunity to be on the mound; especially when he is head to head against his buddies. In addition to baseball, he also plays basketball. Outside of sports, Eli enjoys gaming, collecting & trading baseball cards, listening to music and playing outside with friends.

Some fun facts about Eli : He is the only Braves fan in his family of 4 Cubs fans, he is a machine on the slopes skiing, he loves dogs of any kind; but he especially loves his Cavapoo Wrigley that is also a Braves fan despite his namesake. Because of his 3rd grade persuasive writing assignments, he was able to convince his animal skeptic dad to get a dog and his family to go on a cruise for Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday ICE, and welcome to the Valor Family!
