A couple Summers ago, a young athlete joined GRIT after battling Lyme disease.

She'd lost speed.

She'd lost confidence.

A few months later, her mom sent us this:

"She went from one of the fastest girls to the fastest girl on both of her soccer teams. I know GRIT helped...and it gave her back some confidence too."

We created GRIT not just to help kids get stronger and faster.

But to help them build confidence, discipline, and healthy habits that last.

🏃‍♀️ Did you know one of the most influential runners in history raced right here in Vestal?

Just four years after becoming the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon, Kathrine Switzer came to Vestal in 1971 to compete in the very first Vestal 20K Road Race.

At the time, women were still fighting for the right to compete in distance running events. Kathrine helped change that forever.

Nineteen years later, she returned to run our 20th Annual race. By then, dozens of women were competing alongside her—a powerful reminder of how far the sport had come.

On June 20th, we'll continue a tradition that has been part of our community for more than 50 years. Be A Part of the Legacy!

At 45 years old, Erryn heard the words no one ever wants to hear:

"You have breast cancer."

A wife. A mom of three. And suddenly, everything changed.

Today, she's 2 years and 3 months cancer-free. 💪

What inspires me most isn't what she survived—it's how she's chosen to move forward.

She's not focused on what cancer took from her.

She's focused on becoming the strongest version of herself.

Her story is a reminder that strength isn't measured by the weight you lift.

Sometimes strength is choosing gratitude when life gives you every reason not to.

Sometimes it's showing up and refusing to quit.
