I’ve spent a lot of time staring at this post, trying to find the right words.
The truth is, there probably aren’t any.
THE FISH DON’T KNOW IT YET… BUT THIS ONE ISN’T ABOUT THEM.
There is something special about the carp community.
We come from different towns. Different backgrounds.
Different walks of life.
Some of us have been fishing for decades. Some of us are just starting. Some of us are still making memories together on the bank as a family.
But when someone needs us… We become family.
A little girl named Blakely is fighting pediatric brain cancer.
We’ve never met her.
But as parents, and as a family, our hearts hurt for her and everyone who loves her. When we look at Blakely, we don’t see a diagnosis.
We see our daughter. We see a little girl who should be spending her summer making memories, laughing with friends, and simply being a kid. Instead, she’s fighting a battle that no child should ever have to face.
That’s why August 15th means so much.
Yes, there will be rods in the water.
Yes, there will be fish caught.
Yes, there will be stories shared around the bank.
But this event is about something much bigger than fishing.
It’s about hope.
It’s about community.
It’s about showing a family that they are not walking this road alone.
As a family, fishing has given us some of our greatest memories together. It’s brought us friendships that feel like family.
And one thing we’ve learned through this sport is that when one of us is hurting, we all show up.
So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
We’re going to show up for Blakely.
We’re going to fish.
We’re going to support.
We’re going to stand beside her family and remind them that there is an entire community behind them.
From our family to yours, Blakely:
Keep fighting, sweet girl.
There are more people cheering for you than you could ever imagine.
