Before we do anything, I ask one question. How does your body feel today?

Not last week. Not how it usually feels. Today.

The answer changes what we do. Some days it’s ‘strong, ready for more.’ Other days it’s ‘stiff, slept badly, my hip’s been bothering me.’ Both are useful, and both lead somewhere different.

A lot of programs are built around a plan that doesn’t change no matter what. Week four always looks like week four, regardless of how you walked in that day.

The Balenvia Method starts from the body in front of me — which, over time, becomes the body you learn to check in with yourself.

Most people come to me having done a lot of exercise. Classes, programmes, gym memberships. And almost none of them have ever been shown where their core actually is.

Not the visible part. The part underneath — the four muscles that have been holding your spine together, keeping your organs in place, and controlling your breath your entire life without you ever having to think about it.

When I start working with someone, this is where we begin. Not because it is the most exciting part of what we do. Because everything else — the strength, the stability, the way your body feels after a long day — depends on how well these four are doing their job.

The method has to be right for your body and right for this season of your life. But it also has to be something you enjoy and actually want to come back to.

After more than twenty years in movement, I can tell you that enjoyment is not optional. It is part of what keeps you showing up. And showing up is everything.
