Essex Running Club What brings and keeps us together, besides exercise, is information, advice, and support; fun and exciting events; camaraderie, friendship, and community.

Founded in 1983, the Essex Running Club takes pride in being one of New Jersey’s friendliest running clubs whether you’re new to running, looking to join a competitive team or somewhere in between. For over 40 years, we have embraced people of all ages and abilities – health conscious runners and walkers seeking to get in shape, stay motivated and improve their fitness; competitive runners interested in training, racing, and team events; and adventurous trail runners, ultra runners, and multisport athletes. ERC is both a running club and a social club! We keep you informed with our monthly newsletter, web site, Facebook group and Instagram feed. We keep you motivated with our club meetings and social events. And we keep you running with our group runs, track workouts and USATF racing team. The Essex Running Club welcomes you! 2026 ERC SCHOLARSHIP IN MEMORY OF DOUG WILLIAMS

We are very pleased to announce this year’s winners of the ERC Scholarship In Memory Of Doug Williams who each received a check for $1,000 at the Montclair High School Senior Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, June 11.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the scholarship run on May 3 or who made a donation with a special thank you to Fleet Feet Montclair for their continued support of the scholarship. It is presented each year in memory of Doug who was a graduate of Montclair High School and a beloved member of the Essex Running Club when he was killed by a hit and run driver on Upper Mountain Ave in October 2011.
