🩵Transformation Tuesday! We are so proud of Erica. Here’s her story.
“I’ve always been into fitness. Growing up, I played sports and performed in the circus, so movement, strength, and being active were a big part of my life. And then, I became a mom. My first son had open-heart surgery at four days old. Watching my baby go through that much pain changed me. I remember thinking, my pain doesn’t matter. I don’t matter. Only his life matters. That mindset stuck with me. I had another baby and continued putting my family first. I saw taking care of myself as taking something away from them. My own health became an afterthought. I realized I couldn’t keep living that way when I was pulling my boys in a sled. They wanted to keep going, and I couldn’t. For the first time, I realized my body wasn’t allowing me to keep up with the two people I wanted more than anything to keep up with. I knew I needed to do something.
A few of my coworkers were doing Burn, and with a strong push from my husband, I gave it a try in November 2025. Even then, I debated whether I was worth the monthly membership. Eventually, I decided I was. I still remember something Amber said during one of my trial camps. She talked about how us moms often focus on what we want to lose, especially weight, when we should think about what we want to gain. That stuck with me. I didn’t just want to lose weight. I wanted to gain strength, confidence, endurance, gratitude, and a better relationship with myself. That mindset changed the way I approached Burn and fitness as a whole. I started prioritizing my health, practicing gratitude daily, and making movement part of our family life. I changed the way I viewed taking time for myself. Instead of seeing it as something I was taking away from my family, I began to understand that taking care of myself was one of the ways I was taking care of them.
I am gaining confidence, consistency (inside and outside of Burn), and a completely different relationship with my health. Most importantly, my boys now see their mom taking care of herself. I want them to understand that health is something to be grateful for, strength comes in many forms, and caring for your body is an act of love - for yourself and for the people you love most. I joined Burn because I wanted to keep up with my boys. I stayed because I realized I’m worth showing up for, too.”
