BREAKING: Abigail Spanberger has signed two unconstitutional gun bills into law:

HB1525 immediately bans purchase AND possession of certain fi****ms for adults under 21 — turning existing lawful owners into criminals overnight.

SB727/HB1524 bans carrying and transporting many common fi****ms on public property, including semiautomatic centerfire rifles or pistols over 15 rounds, effective July 1, 2026.

The NRA will continue to monitor the situation for any more bills Spanberger signs that infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of Virginians.

Let me put this in plain English for every gun owner in Virginia: the Democrats’ last “assault firearm” bill didn’t just target rifles — it went after pistols that use magazines holding more than 10 rounds, which includes some of the most common handguns in America.

And despite what folks may assume, there was no genuine grandfather clause. The bill did not clearly protect your right to continue owning the pistols you already lawfully purchased. If Democrats bring this bill back in 2026 — and they absolutely will — hundreds of thousands of Virginians could wake up as criminals simply for keeping their everyday carry handgun loaded the way it was designed to function.

That is not public safety. That is not reasonable regulation.
That is criminalizing ordinary citizens.

And under the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, it is flat-out unconstitutional. There is no historical tradition in this country of banning commonly owned handguns or restricting them based on magazine capacity. Bruen makes it clear: the government doesn’t get to invent new ways to restrict fundamental rights just because they have the votes.

But with Democrats now holding a trifecta in Richmond, they can ram through whatever they want — constitutional or not. So let me be absolutely clear:

If they try to pass a law that makes ordinary Virginians felons for simply owning their standard-capacity pistols, I will fight it from the moment the bill hits the Governor’s desk. I’ll take it to state court, federal court, and every appellate court necessary.

They may have the votes. But I have the Constitution — and the Bruen decision — behind me.

And I’m more than ready to stand at the tip of the spear locked arms with VCDL and GOA when this fight comes.
