Hawk’s Nest hosted a U.S. Open Qualifier on Wednesday, where 84 players competed for five spots in the final stage of qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Open. The qualifiers were Giuseppe Puebla (-6), Joseph Stills (-5), Ryan Edholm (-5), Ted Smith (-4), and former Moorings member James Hassell (-4). Other notable performances included Moorings members Michael Barbosa (-1) and John Scully (+5). Greg Norman Jr. (+3) added a special highlight to the day, with his father on the bag serving as his caddie. Some members also got in the action like John Foster caddying for local professional Will Grady (+5). Players across the field were unanimous in their praise for Superintendent Bobby Wallace, noting the exceptional condition of the course at Hawk’s Nest.
