Why Hydration is the Game-Changer for Endurance Athletes💧

Did you know that just a 2% loss in body weight through sweat can tank your performance? 🥵

Whether you’re running a race, training for an OCR, or crushing a long workout, hydration is extremely important.

Here’s what you need to know:

👉 Hydration = Better Performance
👉 Dehydration = Fatigue and Cramping
👉 Electrolytes = Muscle Power

Pro Tips:
✔️ Drink 16-20 oz of water 2-3 hours before training.
✔️ Sip 4-8 oz every 15-20 minutes during exercise (add electrolytes for sessions over an hour).
✔️ Rehydrate with 16-24 oz for every pound lost after training.

DISCIPLINE is about showing up, no matter what. It’s about making a promise to yourself and keeping it. It’s doing the workout even when the couch looks better. It’s prepping meals when takeout is easier.

My first OCR race? A disaster. 💀 i didn’t train, my cardio was horrible and delayed on being a strong bodybuilder. I hit a mental wall, and had no clue how to fuel or train properly. BUT, it taught me lessons I’ll never forget.

Here’s what I learned:
1️⃣ Train your weaknesses, not just your strengths.
2️⃣ Mental toughness is a skill and you can train for it.
3️⃣ Preparation isn’t optional, it’s everything.

These lessons helped me go from really struggling to finishing and being proud of it. It also led me to crushing my future goals in future races.

4 Days Left Until the New Year!

As the year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on where you are and where you want to be.

You know I truly believe it’s important to chase discomfort, push your limits. If you can do this, you’re going to grow stronger both mentally and physically. Let 2025 be the year you level up!

Set ONE BIG fitness goal for next year. Maybe it’s crushing a Spartan race, running your first marathon, or building strength and confidence in the gym. Whatever it is, commit to it.

The time to start is NOW. Let’s dial it in, get focused, and make 2025 your strongest year yet, both in body and in mind.

Top 4 Mistakes Beginners Make in OCR Training 🏃‍♂️💪🏻 (and How to Avoid Them!)

Training for your first Obstacle Course Race?

Let’s go!!! I’m exited for you. But if you’re not careful, you could set yourself up for a tough race day.

Avoid these 4 common mistakes to crush your OCR and cross that finish line with confidence:

1️⃣ Neglecting Grip Strength: Without strong grip strength, obstacles like monkey bars and rope climbs will feel impossible. Start adding dead hangs and farmer’s carries to your training now!

2️⃣ Only Focusing on Running: OCRs are not just about running. Build functional strength with pull-ups, push-ups, and squats to handle the obstacles.

3️⃣ Skipping Obstacle Practice: Fitness alone isn’t enough. Practice sandbag carries, crawling, and wall climbs, or find a gym with obstacles to train on.

4️⃣ Ignoring Mental Preparation: OCRs challenge your mind just as much as your body. Train in tough conditions (rain, cold, mud) and develop mental toughness with mantras like, “One obstacle at a time.”

You can have the perfect training program, the most detailed nutrition plan, and the best support system, but none of it matters if you don’t show up for yourself every day.

Success isn’t about big dramatic changes, it’s about taking accountability and doing the small, consistent actions that move you closer to your goal.

Whether it’s getting to the gym, tracking your meals, or simply getting enough sleep, every small effort adds up.
