First official training day of contest prep is going to be at after spending the weekend at the SWIS symposium. The drive home tomorrow will be eventful I'm predicting.

Leg curls are probably the movement I'm the worst at - I've stiff leg deadlifted 365 for reps but top out at half the stack on most machines. So every leg workout starts with leg curls.

Drop sets because always loved writing leg days that start with a bang.

Muscle & Fitness was the very first magazine i bought off the shelf when I started lifting weights in high school so the idea of ending up inside of one would be a pretty cool full circle feeling.

Some lingering shoulder instability that's been hanging around for the last 12 months or so seems like it's become a non-factor and I'm able to stick with the 100's for multiple sets now. Spent some time working on:

🔷️ shoulder external rotation strengthening
🔷️ shoulder internal rotation mobilization with PNF, loaded eccentrics and SMR
🔷️ rhomboid strengthening
🔷️ improving my breathing

Would love to get even closer to the far end of the dumbbell rack by the end of this offseason - still a ways to go.

The last month or so has been pretty productive for my squats, likely from a few things:

🔷️working on using my glutes better by getting torque from my feet
🔷️adding in some extra glute medius activation before squatting - especially hip airplanes that I stole from
🔷️trying to improve my breathing mechanics
🔷️doing a s**t ton of squatting
Up from 245x10 to 275x8 in three weeks. If I had glutes that matched my quads I could probably add another 50lbs on that so maybe it's time to break out the old "Buns of Steel" videos 😂

Another ridonkulous back day today from and expecting to be sore AF tomorrow. Offseason is in full swing and has me eating 4500 calories most days so I can't complain too much.

A. Meadows row - worked up to 5 25lb plates and a 5 for 12 reps, then 6 25lb plates for 8. Then did it again and stood on bumper plates to make the range of motion bigger. These were 🔥

B. Wide grip pullups - did 11, 7, and 5 reps with bodyweight.

C. Banded pullovers - 2 sets of 10 with a 50lb dumbbell and a red mini band attached

D. Rack pull - 4 sets of 8 with 315lbs from mid-shin

E. Incline dumbbell rows - 50lbs for 12 reps, then a drop set with 70's for 8 reps and 50's for 6

Then calves because calves are awesome 👊💪
