Super proud of the crew from neon Neon: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA and Fitness
I had three students sign up for the grappling industries tournament yesterday.... I originally had five but since the tournament was moved to Father's Day from March, two of the other guys could not compete..
Unfortunately, and this is a first Olivia and Finn who are both absolute assassins didn't have any opponents at all and were both too young to get moved up into the adult women's division... Both were given credit towards a future tournament and had to sit this one out. I was super bummed about it as I'm sure they were. They even competed with students from other schools. In preparation for the tournament, I fully expected both of them to take medals, hopefully gold, but we'll have to wait and see what happens next time...
My boy Mason took home a bronze medal in a super hard super big division. He was on track to take home the gold but got caught in a questionable heel submission " question by the ref. Not by me. She actually had me go to the head judge table and have them review the footage to make sure what happened actually was legal. She didn't think it was neither did the gentleman running the event, but another judge who was the official keeper of the rules ruled it as legal. "So there we are" ... Mason got an already injured ankle popped in the submission and chose to keep on competing, like an absolute Savage. He won his next match by submission, clenching his bronze medal but he would have taken home gold if not for that....
He had four wins and one loss in the Gi and racked up a whopping 57 points doing it including an 18 to nothing victory by points.
He kept trying to soldier on through the pain in the NO GI division but ultimately had to step out, due to injury.
