Just a reminder!!!

Just a reminder!!!

Just a PSA with the upcoming extended cold snap on the horizon.....

Batteries in the mowers/tractors/RVs/boats/etc that haven't been used/charged since fall need to be fully charged to survive the deep cold.

A conventional (lead/acid) battery will need to be at LEAST 50% charged or the water/acid inside will freeze and damage the plates. The chart below gives you a good reference point.

Today is forecast to be right at 32F so it's the PERFECT time to top off these batteries!..... it can save you $$BIG$$ in the spring!!

This will be a big Lake Erie seiche! The peak of the event (highest water in Buffalo, lowest in Toledo) will be around noon to 3pm Monday. The water level is expected to be 12+ feet higher on the east end of the lake compared to the west end. This is due to the very strong winds out of the west to southwest during the day. We have had several of these events since November, but this has the potential to be the largest of the year.

Here it goes AGAINNNNNNnnnnnnn.......LOL

LOL

Here we go again! Early projections show another massive seiche could compare with November, and that was the biggest event in years. The water level is projected to drop 4 feet below low water datum near Toledo. In other words, the water will move out of the western basin once again and move east. Waves up to 20 feet are possible in the eastern half of the lake. I will have an update later this week with a refined timeline of when the biggest impacts will be felt. Right now, Thursday night into Friday morning appears to be the prime time for this big weather event.

Even Santa had to resort to "Plan B" due to the seiche moving all our water to Buffalo with the SW winds!

🚤🎅 Proof in the photo! Thanks to a sharp-eyed Vermilion sailor at Parsons Marina for capturing this rare moment, we were aboard the backup big red yacht, passing in front of Santa’s main 63-foot Scarlet, because the west-southwest winds had drained the river too much to risk the flagship. Nothing stops North Coast Christmas magic! 🌊🎄✨

Having the boat COMPLETELY winterized.....
HOWEVER....

That was only after having the boat winterized and covered....
and THEN realizing that I had neglected to drain and winterize the HEAD!!!!!!!!

WAY more fun than I really wanted to have this morning!!

Well, after an abbreviated summer season due to other business responsibilities..... nature threw a wrench into the works of the fall season too!

After being landlocked in the marina for over a week because of low water levels and a strong seiche shoving what little water we had in the west/central basin to Buffalo.... we had a couple of days with east winds blowing in JUST ENOUGH water to get the boat to the ramp and load it.

SOOOOOoooooo.... she's in the shop now, with the winterization done and manifolds/risers and block drained. Next is the framing and heavy tarp for the winter layup!

Looking forward to next spring already!!!!!
