Moes Marine Service, Inc.

Moes Marine Service, Inc. Moes Marine Service, Inc. is a family-owned and operated boatyard founded in 1938 by Julius "Mike" Moes. We are now in our third generation.

Moes Marine Service is a family-owned and operated full-service marina founded in 1938 on the banks of the Vermilion River specializing in the repair of wood boats. He established the business on the property his Uncle and Father purchased in 1917 on the banks of the Vermilion River. The primary operation in the early days was to service and maintain Vermilion's bustling fishing fleet. Following W

WII, in which Mike served in the Pacific, private ownership of boats increased dramatically and the repair services on the fishing fleet transferred over to pleasurecraft. Although materials changed in the 1970's, we continued to refine the skills we developed in the previous 30 years with wooden boats. Elsewhere each generation has brought new skills back to Moes Marine to expand the business skillset. We love boats and we are partners with owners in the love for their boat. Most of these classic boats will long outlast us and we are custodians of the boats for a period of time. Each boat has a long story to tell! We work with local suppliers whenever possible to source the materials needed for our projects. We are also members of local organizations that support our community.

The Boatyard Garage Sale Part II is still on for tomorrow (Saturday) from 9am to noon at the Boathouse (5359 Liberty) here in Vermilion! We've moved some more stuff over from other buildings onto the tables and floor in the Boathouse. We also intend on opening up the garage door for the building across the street (Fish House) at the Boatyard to walk through. That building is not heated so dress even warmer if you want to visit there!

Here's a list of some of the items:

-lots of props, good ones and damaged (sold by the pound!)
-anchors
-life jackets
-chandeliers from the rafters of the Cargo Warehouse
-old water skis
-small Chris Craft helm station (the big one sold!)
-Penn Yan dinghy
-lots of miscellaneous hardware (sold by the pound!)
-oars
-flagpoles
-Lyman transoms, including one from a 28' Lyman
-shop tools, power tools, hand tools
-canvas tarps
-55' gallon plastic drums (for rainwater systems)
-Vacuflush system
-stern seat
-10' or so wide teak swim platform. It is curved so wouldn't adapt to any boat, but could be used for a creative bench seat project on a deck or similar

We also have Moes Marine apparel!

Moes Marine apparel update! We have a few sweatshirts left but still have lots of T-shirts (glad we ordered a bunch). Although we cannot keep the yard sale open during the week, we do have the apparel in the main office here at the Boathouse. For those that would like to stop by during the week, we will make sure one of us is always in the office between 11AM and 2PM each day this week.

We will of course have the apparel available on Saturday 12/20 as well from 9AM to noon at the next installment of the Boatyard Garage Sale!

Thanks to all for visiting this past weekend!
