The crown jewell wiener race every year is the coveted Nationals, to be held next year on August 10th in the bustling community of Vergas, MN. This event is typically held in large cities such as Minneapolis, Chicago, and New York, but Vergas won the bid for the 2013 event competing with cities such as Cleveland, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Houston. Digger Anderson, President and CEO of NWDRA said
" The NWDRA is proud tp announce thus event in Vergas. In conhunction with the Community Club as well as the overwhelming support of Vergas residents, we are certain that this race will be the standard that all future National events are measured by". Up to 60 wieners will be competing in both sprint races and really low hurdles., and will be travelling from several states and Canada. The luxury wiener dog haulers will begin arriving mid week prior to the race, and they will be visible throught the area. Registration begins at 10 am, but we fully expect that we will be full via pre-registration. Hot Laps (practice) begins at 11am, racingg begins at noon, and the track will be secured so everyone can attend the Loon Calling Contest at 2PM. And always remember the 4 most important words in racing....."Gentlemen, start your wieners"!
