Objective
My name is Andres Monge although most just call me “Dre.” I am a relatively new resident of Spokane, Washington having only moved here in June. Before that I lived in Phoenix, AZ for five years. I graduated from Arizona State University with my BS in Kinesiology and from the Barrett Honors College. I have been working in the Fitness and Physical Therapy field for over 4 years and like to think it has helped mold me as well as many others into the people we are today. Life and fitness is a journey and I believe I learn as much from each of my clients as they learn from me. My goal in training is to raise a person’s quality of life and help guide them in achieving the goals they have set for themselves. I have worked with a multitude of people varying from those recovering and coping with life changing injuries, to some of the most elite athletes in the NFL, NHL, and MLB. Each has taught me an immense amount, just as each of my clients at Chrome do every day that I work with them. How I see it, if you’re here then the hardest part is over, now my job is to make your time spent here worthwhile, effective, and fun! I want you to walk away feeling exhausted, accomplished, and ready to take on whatever challenge life brings you… after that HEALTHY post workout snack!
I have been lucky enough to have had parents who always pushed me to be active since I was young. I played baseball, basketball, competitive soccer up through college, and wrestled. I was always interested in fitness but became working on becoming a fitness professional in college while working for the Arizona Cardinals physical therapist Brett Fischer. Using the knowledge I gained from college and working consistently in the physical therapy and performance training fields for the past several years I feel confident training you whether you are recovering from a total knee or hip surgery or on you’re off season for the NFL.
My hobbies consist of rock climbing, snowboarding, and long-course endurance races. I competed for the Arizona State University Triathlon team and went to Nationals in 2011. I have done a multitude of sprint, Olympic, and half iron, as well as the 2011 Arizona Ironman. I also single-speed mountain bike and hope to do the 24hr mountain-bike race in Spokane this coming May! I have run competitively for several years from 5k up to marathon distance, and hope to compete in my first ultra-marathon by the summer of 2012. Running is an area where a lot of people want to run but think they “can’t.” Personally, I do not have the “runner’s build” and had to tweak my own form to avoid chronic injuries including plantar fasciitis and IT-band syndrome. With the right progression and coaching I believe almost everyone can finish and enjoy at least the 5k distance if not much more!
Whatever your goal lets work together, feed off each other, and learn from each other in order to achieve it!
