I’m excited to share that I will be performing and co-choreographing an upcoming dance production titled “The Body Keeps the Score”, presented by the Ventura College Dance Department. This show is especially meaningful for me, as Ventura College is where I started my academic journey, and now I’m returning as a choreographer committed to the intersection of movement, healing, and embodiment.

The show is inspired by the somatic wisdom of how the body holds trauma, memory, and resilience. I was invited as a guest choreographer and performer, and it has been an honor to co-create this work with Krenly Guzman, dance department director, who also happened to be one of the first people I ever collaborated with as a young artist.

Together, Krenly and I have reimagined a piece we created over a decade ago titled “Flux” — originally based on somatic explorations of trauma in the body. This new iteration expands the work into an ensemble piece, weaving together themes of relational trauma: how our bodies remember, how we carry wounds into connection, and how relationships can become spaces of illumination and healing.

I also choreographed a contemporary ballet duet titled “Polar”, exploring internal fragmentation, the push-pull between parts of ourselves, and how polarity itself can become a bridge to wholeness.

Also very dear to me, I will be performing a solo piece titled “The Wound is Where the Light Enters”. This piece began in 2020, birthed during a dark night of the soul, and has grown with me through many cycles of death and rebirth. It is a dance of grief, ego death, awakening, and ultimately, grace… an offering from the part of me that cracked open, met the divine in the depths, and chose to rise.

It has been such a privilege getting to work with such dedicated, curious, and passionate dancers in the creation of this show. If you’re local, I’d love for you to come witness this powerful evening of dance, healing, and embodiment. Much love ❤️

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been active here, and I wanted to take a moment to reconnect and share where life has taken me.

Many of you know me from my years as a ballet teacher, and some of you (or your children!) have been part of the classes and performances I’ve taught and directed. Ballet has been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember, and movement will always be my first language.

Over the past few years, my path has expanded in some exciting ways. I’m currently working as an associate psychologist, finishing my doctorate, and writing my dissertation on the intersection of somatics, depth psychology, and altered states of consciousness. I’ve become deeply immersed in the ways our bodies hold both trauma and wisdom, and how movement, breath, and embodiment can be profound tools for healing and transformation.

What I’ve come to realize is that my work is not about choosing between psychology and dance—it’s about weaving them together. Ballet, psychology, somatics, and embodiment are not separate worlds; they are all part of the same conversation about the mind, body, and soul. Whether through dance, therapeutic work, or deep inner exploration, my passion remains the same: helping others connect with themselves in a meaningful, embodied way.

Going forward, I’m inspired to share more of my current work in these realms. As I start posting more, I’d also love to hear from you—what’s your connection to dance (or movement in general) these days?

Thank you for being here! I’m excited to be more active on this page again and connect with you all 🐦‍🔥

With love,

Kerri
