The Jersey Shore Rugby Club continued their winning ways with a 1st place championship victory at the summer rugby Cheese Steak 7s Rugby Tournament. The Sharks are accepting new players, no experience necessary. Informal tag rugby sessions are held every Thursday evening.

I'm sorry to report that we did not reach our goal of making it to the final 4 national rugby championships. My boys played a physically larger team that was as equally skilled and fit as we were. With 2 minutes left in the match, the score was 17-17. Syracuse crossed the line to score and make the conversion and acquire the lead 24 -17. In rugby, the team that gets scored upon kicks the ball back to the scoring team and somehow the Sharks recovered the ball and marched down the field in a last minute effort to tie the game. In extra time, the Shark's lost the ball and the game was over. Cheers to Syracuse and good luck in the national championships!
