As we move in to our mini break, we had a really special session today.
First off, welcoming in to the fold .campbellk who joined us while on holiday from the UK and who we haven’t seen since Nationals in 2024 when she played with Cheshire County (and beat our ass.) So great to meet you properly and have you with us! Such a star! ⭐️
Second of all, we got to honor somebody incredibly special to us. There isn’t a single person who has come to Santa Monica Spirits who wouldn’t have taken notice of, or come to love the one and only Fiona Angus
Fiona has been a member of this club for many, many years and we have seen her represent the pink and black with such ferocity and unmatched passion year in and year out. She is a true athlete; Fee is tireless, she’s strong and a total menace to play against. She’s also the first person to be on that sideline jumping up and down, cheering on her side (so loudly you can hear her from courts away) and making sure everyone feels seen, valued and supported.
Our Fee has also been fighting her own battle on the sideline this year with a breast cancer diagnosis that rocked her world. And still, as Fee as Fee is, has been to training every single week, whether or not she had a treatment a week or a day before. She not only shows up, but continues to be an absolute force. She demonstrates to every single person around her what we are truly capable of, to never take your health or fitness for granted and what a privilege it is to play netball in a country where netball barely exists, with people you love.
Our Fee, we are with you every step of the way. Cancer doesn’t even know who it’s dealing with. But we do. And it’s in TROUBLE.
