This past weekend, we had some of our crew get after it. Joe and Garrett were at Monster Games and Michelle at Survival Games.
This was a big step for Joe and Garrett. They ended up 33rd/55 total teams. I’ve been doing this a long time and any time you have an athlete, or this case, athletes, goto their first qualifying event, it’s just a whirlwind.
There is so much to focus on aside from the fitness side of things. The travel, packing and prepping food, 10 hours between events, staying in a hotel, warmup, compete, wait, warmup, compete. Recovery and then executing your game plan.
It can be overwhelming the first time out and everybody underperforms, always.
This was a huge step for them and couldn’t be more proud. I know how good they are and what they are capable of and can’t wait for them to showcase that the next time out. They both learned a lot about themselves and that’s more critical than winning.
Winning starts to come when things slow down. When you can focus on the task. When you BELIEVE in yourself. There are steps to this and they took their first one.
Michelle got to team up with a squad and hit a nice little 2 day event. From the beginning in 2021, she has been working relentlessly on becoming better. She started with little to no gymnastics and wasn’t very strong.
Now, she can hang with most of the lifts at events and gymnastics are going through the roof. Programming helps, but it takes the individual to believe and then do the program.
They brought home 1st place.
We love to win, but more importantly, we love to grow. Growth comes through more failures than success. Success is a product of failures.
Love this crew and the rest of OP. They have believed in me more than most and that’s to me will always outweigh any amount of money I could ever make.
