Vancouver Swim Club is pleased & excited to welcome our new head Coach Alyssa! Please read more about her below!
Alyssa has been coaching competitive swimming for 10 years. She got her
start swimming with Vancouver Swim Club at the age of 8. Alyssa is a
two-time WIAA state champion, two-time All-American Athlete, three-time
Great St. Helens League Swimmer of the Year, two-time Today Foundation
Swimmer of the Year, US Army Reserve and Heritage HS National Scholar
Athlete, and was inducted into the Heritage High School Athletic Hall of
Fame in 2013. Ten years of training and competing for VSC and Heritage High
School led to a swimming scholarship at the University of Hawaii. Coach
Alyssa completed all 4 years of Division I swimming with UH and earned a
Bachelor degree in Environmental Geography. While in Hawaii, she worked as
a fitness instructor, personal trainer, and coached open-water swimming.
After moving back to Vancouver, WA in 2012, Alyssa began coaching with
Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) and took on the dryland program for VSC.
Soon after, she became the Novice coach and eventually the Age Group coach.
In addition to 5 years as an assistant coach with VSC, she has continually
coached for VPS, most notably as the head coach of Columbia River High
School. Coach Alyssa has led CRHS swimmers to 39 District Championship
titles, the CRHS boys' team to District Champions the past 3 years, top 10
team finish at the State Championships the past 4 years, and 8 State
Championship titles. She has been honored as the Greater St. Helens League
Coach of the Year 4 times.
