Another great night of Traditional Okinawan Kobudo training at the dojo.

Tonight, Sensei Eric led the class through Bo Staff fundamentals, helping students develop proper mechanics, control, coordination, and power while learning one of Okinawa's most recognized traditional weapons.

Weapons training offers much more than learning how to use a weapon. It improves balance, timing, focus, body awareness, and helps students gain a deeper understanding of the traditional martial arts.

We're fortunate to have instructors who are passionate about preserving and sharing these arts with the next generation of students.

If you've ever been interested in learning traditional Okinawan weapons, we'd love to have you join us.

Dragon Sword Kata #1.

This is one of the first sword forms we teach in our weapons program. While it may be considered a beginner form, it contains many of the fundamentals that carry through every level of weapons training.

One of the things I love about traditional martial arts is that the basics never stop being important. As your skill grows, your understanding of those same movements continues to deepen.

Weapons training develops coordination, timing, focus, body mechanics, and an appreciation for the traditions that helped shape modern martial arts.

If you've ever been interested in learning traditional weapons, we'd love to have you join us.

Just a few days left until an incredible opportunity arrives at our dojo. 🥋

We are deeply honored to welcome Master Bill Roy for a special clinic on the art of the Soft Punch and the cultivation of Internal Energy.

This is the kind of knowledge that cannot fully be understood through videos or books alone. It must be experienced, shared, and passed from one generation of martial artists to the next.

Master Bill Roy is an accomplished Buddha Head whose decades of study and dedication reflect a deeper side of the martial arts—where intention, breath, structure, relaxation, and energy come together in powerful ways.

At our dojo, we believe that if knowledge is not shared, eventually it is lost.

Creating opportunities like this for our students and community is part of honoring the art itself.

This summer we’ll be hosting Master Roy for a special clinic focused on the deeper principles of striking, body mechanics, timing, and the “Theory of the Soft Punch.”

What you’re seeing here isn’t brute force—it’s decades of refinement, structure, focus, and understanding of movement.

Opportunities to learn from martial artists of this caliber don’t come around often, and I’m incredibly excited to bring this experience to our students and community.
