This business is incredibly difficult. I salute anyone who lasts longer than two years—and even more anyone who lasts more than 20. We recently heard about the closing of Roots, just like all of you. It’s a wicked bummer. Roots was one of the few easy, simple favorites where you knew you’d get what you paid for. I’ll miss the service and the food that made it a real third place.
I’ve read a lot of the feedback, good and bad. For those of you who have gift cards (I do too), we will honor the first 100 we receive at both Courses Golf & Grill and 3 Sheets at the Harbor. This is simply because we’re sad to see them go. After shuttering a couple of our own places, we know how much it sucks when gift certificates that were gifted, earned, or won but can’t be honored.
