Evan’s road to recovery continues! 🏁❤️

He’s one tough kid, but this concussion has definitely been a different kind of battle. While he’s still not ready to fully return to racing, we’re taking things one step at a time.

Tonight, we’re letting him get back behind the wheel for a lap or two at the back of the field and not up to speed, just to help him regain some confidence and work through the mental side of everything he’s experienced. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t getting back in the car, it’s finding the courage to trust yourself again.

If there’s one thing we know about Evan, it’s that he’s tough, determined, and has a heart that refuses to quit. This setback may have slowed him down, but it certainly hasn’t taken away his love for racing.

A huge thank you to Doug Stevens for helping us get his car back together and getting us one step closer to seeing that #66 back on the track! We are so grateful for the people who continue to show up for our boy and help keep his dreams alive. ❤️

We ask for your continued prayers for his healing, both physically and mentally, as we navigate this recovery and work toward getting him safely back to doing what he loves most.

One lap at a time, buddy. We’ll get there. ❤️🏁

Another update on our #66. ❤️‍🩹

Today at school, Evan’s teacher and administrator noticed that he just wasn’t himself. He was having some confusion, difficulty remembering things, and seemed a little “off,” so they reached out to me.

After talking with a couple of NP friends who both felt like he needed to be checked out and have a CT scan, off to the ER we went.

Thankfully, his CT was CLEAR with no signs of any bleeding — something we are incredibly grateful for. 🙏🏻 He does, however, have a concussion from Saturday night’s wreck.

For now, we’re going to give our racer some time to rest and recover and keep a close eye on him. This definitely puts into perspective just how hard that impact really was.

Thank you to his teachers for paying such close attention to him today and recognizing that something wasn’t quite right, and thank you to everyone who has continued checking on and praying for Evan. ❤️

Racing can wait. Right now, getting our #66 feeling like himself again is what matters most. 🏁

Last night was one of those nights at the racetrack that you just hate to see. 💔 There were horrible wrecks and injuries throughout several classes, and unfortunately, we weren’t spared.

Coming out of turn 4, Evan went straight into the wall. The brand-new car is pretty much destroyed. 😭 At first I thought he was okay… until he opened the door and slid out onto the ground. Talk about a heart-dropping moment. I’m thinking I need to start running and training during the week just so I can get to him faster when something like this happens. 😅😭

Thankfully, he’s okay. 🙏🏼 He hurt his leg/knee and is definitely sore today—as you would expect after hitting a wall head-on—but he’s able to walk (with a limp) and nothing appears to be too serious. We’re incredibly thankful because we know it could have been so much worse.

We appreciate every single person who checked on Evan, came by to see how he was doing, or immediately offered to help with the car. Racing really is a family. ❤️

Two cars completely torn up in a month’s time hurts. 😭 At this point, we honestly don’t know if we’ll rebuild and finish out the season or just call it a year. We’ll figure that part out once the dust settles.

Most importantly, please keep the go-kart driver who was injured last night in your prayers, along with our race official, Dawson Keener, who was also injured. There were a lot of scary moments last night, and we’re praying for healing for everyone involved. 🙏🏼

Cars can be replaced. These people can’t. ❤️

🏁 P6 FINISH FOR EVAN JOHNSON RACING! 🏁

Another solid night behind the wheel of the Pro Truck for Evan! 💙💛

Evan qualified 8th out of 12 and battled his way to a 6th-place finish tonight! This was only his SECOND race in a truck and on a big track, and we couldn’t be more proud of the grit, determination, and drive he continues to show.

At just 12 years old, he’s learning, gaining confidence, and making improvements every single time he gets behind the wheel—and that’s all we can ask for. Every lap is experience. Every race is progress. 💪

We are so proud of our #66 and excited to see where this journey takes him. This kid has a bright future ahead! 🏁

Thank you to everyone who continues to support, encourage, and cheer Evan on. It means more than you know! And the veteran drivers coming over to chat with him and tell him what a good job he’s doing is just top notch! 💙
