When we started our 8U Legacy team, the goal was never to collect rings, chase stats, or slap our jersey on the most already talented 8 year olds...
Our goal was to be different.

We didn’t believe in the culture that had taken over youth sports & travel ball. A culture that is very easy to get wrapped up in…
- The parent politics & favoritism
- The win at all costs mentality
- The fake try outs
- The “coaches” recruiting & poaching 8 year olds, replacing them the moment they struggle.
We just wanted our team to be the opposite of all that. ⬆️
To be for kids who were made to feel like maybe they weren’t good enough.
For families who were priced out or burned out by the pressure, politics & favoritism that dominates youth sports.

We wanted to prove that development & success don’t require humiliation from a coach or thousands of dollars from parents.

That winning should never come at the expense of your child’s confidence.
That it’s about creating a fun, supportive environment & letting kids be kids while they can.
Proof that you can do this & still get wins on the scoreboard. Even though that’s NOT what matters the most.

At this age, what matters most is teaching them how to be good teammates, how to work hard for what they want, how to support one another, and how to bounce back when things don’t go their way.
There are many ways to do travel ball nowadays & our way isn’t the only way. And the right people don’t all show up at once.
But over time?
THIS kind of team works. This type of team feels good to be apart of.
Because confident kids last longer.
Kids who feel supported by everyone take more risks.
Kids who aren’t afraid to fail actually grow.
Trophies fade.
Development stays.

This fall season for Legacy 8U has been a challenging one.
While we had a winning record for the season we hadn’t one a single tournament until tonight!
We always “joked” our girls must love third place because it didn’t matter if there were 6 teams or 12, we ended up with 3rd place.
Tonight these ladies showed out.
We went 2-0 in pool play, earning the #1 seed.
We received a bye and went 2-0 in bracket play, after sitting for five hours…
The team collectively scored 69 runs today.
As our season comes to an end we are proud to say we have seen so much growth offensively & defensively!
Our softball team is family and it’s far more than “just softball.”

The future is bright for these ladies and we cannot wait for Spring.

After going 2-0 in pool play with excellent hitting and fielding we sat for four hours!

Back to the field for bracket play and we dropped the first game!
Very little hitting & errors hurt us.

Back to practice to be ready for next weekend!

08/24/2025

Legacy 8U went 1-1 today and 3-2 on the weekend.

Their loss today was against an excellent 2nd year Tribe team.

Hits from the bottom to the top!
Including an in the park home run by Adaline Witten & a solid triple by Abi Parson.

Learning on today’s loss and back to the grind for the next! 🥎🩵
