07/11/2026

Day 3 at TLAN was a great one!! We were able to participate in more team building activities, we were put through the Train Like A Norseman gauntlet workout, and we did a whole lot of wrestling… getting in 4 more duals against other teams, going 3-1 on the day!!

We ended up getting 2nd place in the Bronze bracket as a team, going 4-1 in bracket duals, matching the record of the team who got first, but getting second on head-to-head record.

We ere also able to have some free time to explore the Decorah area where we did some more swimming, fishing, and some kids were able to go to the fish hatchery, which was super cool!!

Today is Day 4, the last day of our TLAN Team Camp. Today is all about the individual wrestling tournament where our guys will be put in an 8-man bracket and wrestle until all the places are figured out.

This camp has been amazing!! Let’s go!!

Day 2 at TLAN camp was great. It included a breakfast at the campground, technique sessions from UNI wrestler Ryder Downey, some team building exercises, some fishing, and 4 wrestling duals where we went 1-3 on the day, winning our first “bracket dual”.

One highlight of Day 2 was our very own Braden Corrigan (incoming freshman) being selected as “Wrestler of the Day”. What does that mean? Each team here has a “camp counselor” that is a Luther College wrestler. Every day, each camp counselor gets to choose 1 kid from the groups they are assisting as “Wrestler of the Day”. It’s a nod to the kid they felt had the best day from a work & effort standpoint. Congrats Braden!

Day 3 is here and we are pumped!! Today will be filled with team building exercises, some free time to explore the Decorah area, and 4 more duals against other teams. Tonight, we’re cooking up some fish that we caught yesterday! We’re ready to rock and roll!!

Yesterday was a GREAT Day 1 of TLAN camp at Luther College! Our boys even got a little fun in before kicking off camp… getting some swimming in and getting to tour the new Luther Wrestling facility!

During yesterday’s sessions, we got to learn from ISU All-American David Carr, which is always amazing! Some of the boys took the opportunity to snap a pic, ask some questions, and assist David during his technique session. We ended the day with two duals against SE Polk and Maple Grove. We scored a ton of points, won a bunch of matches, and ended up going 1-1 in those duals, beating SEP Gold 84-11 and losing to Maple Grove, MN 37-53. We got better yesterday!!

Here’s to a great Day 2!! Today, we get to learn from UNI All-American Ryder Downey. Let’s get it! 💪🏻👍🏻

This morning we had 18 Benton Community wrestlers leave for Decorah to attend the Luther College TLAN Team Wrestling Camp.

We're stoked to have 4 days jam-packed with wrestling and fun. While there, we will be learning from Luther College Coaches and wrestlers, along with NCAA All-Americans David Carr from Iowa State and Ryder Downey from UNI.

This camp is also a great opportunity for us as a team to work on teamwork, to work on technique, to get a bunch of live matches in against kids from other schools, and to have a TON OF FUN!!!

Here's to a GREAT 4 days!!!

THANK YOU Benton Community for making youth camp 2026 a great one!!! K-6th grade wrestlers got better the past 3 days and had fun while doing so! Thank you to the middle and high school wrestlers for helping out as clocks a, and parents thank you for the time and commitment for letting your kids attend three great nights of Benton wrestling!

Reminder: Benton k-6th grade youth camp practice starts TONIGHT from 5:30pm-7pm in the high school wrestling room! Please show up before then to get signed in and receive your youth t shirt as well! Roll cats.

K-6th grade Benton wrestlers, mark your calenders! Benton Community’s youth wrestling camp takes place from June 22nd-June 25th, in the wrestling room at the high school from 5:30pm-7pm. If you are someone who wants to better your craft on the mat, or get exposure to the sport for the first time ever, scan the QR code to sign up! Great opportunity to learn and get better this summer!

Congrats to our Three Fargo qualifiers! Brady Patterson (Sr.) Jaxon Mehlert (So.) and Kaden Mitchell (Fr.) punched their ticket to compete at the Juinor and U16 Nationals where they will wrestle at Fargo, North Dakota from July 10th-15th. Benton was well represented at all ages this weekend as well with Middle Schooler Ryker Heishman and Macoy Heishman, Knox Nolan, and Brightyn Brown representing our youth wrestler’s.
