Biography of Ms. Sarah
Sarah Chapman was introduced to ballet at the age of 2 by her mother, a certified RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet teacher. As a child, Sarah participated in recitals and ballet examinations through the Royal Academy of Dance. Sarah also had many opportunities of performing in productions given by her mother; Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter and the Wolf, and The Nutcracker, which became a family’s tradition every year. Sarah was also introduced to jazz, tap, gymnastics by other instructors, but ballet was her foundation. As a youth, Sarah learned the skills of teaching ballet to younger children and eventually up to adult classes. After graduating from high school, Sarah continued developing her talents by taking ballet, ballroom, and folk dance at BYUI. After returning from serving an LDS mission, she continued sharing her talents by teaching ballet classes at her mother’s studio and volunteering her service teaching ballroom and folk dance to youth in the Kansas City area. Sarah eventually became manager of her mother’s studio (Ballet Conservatory of Independence); managing and organizing recitals and productions for her mother and continuing her family’s annual tradition of The Nutcracker until her mother retired. Sarah continued the Ballet Conservatory in Phoenix, Arizona for three years then moved her business to Van Buren, Arkansas. Her desires is to continue sharing her talents by increasing opportunities for children in the Van Buren community to build self-confidence and have the opportunity to shine!
