Scott was truly an amazing person, and Iām going to miss him more than words can say.
Jami and I learned to play pickleball in Scottās Level 1 class, and from there he became so much more than a coach. He became a great friend. Scott and I talked just about every day. Iād answer the phone, āWhat are you doing, you wild and crazy pickleball guy?ā and almost simultaneously heād come back with, āWhat are you doing, you unleashed, untamed pickleball animal?ā That was Scott. He always made me smile.
I wouldnāt be half the pickleball player I am today without him. He taught me so much about the game, encouraged me, challenged me, and always believed I could get better. But as much as Iāll miss my coach, Iāll miss my friend even more.
Iām grateful for every lesson, every conversation, every laugh, and every time we stepped on a pickleball court together.
Rest in peace, Scott Bartlett. You made a difference in my life and in the lives of so many others.
Pickle on, my friend. You will be deeply missed. ā¤ļøš
Today, weāre remembering someone who meant so much to our pickleball community.
Scott Bartlett was a valued coach, teammate, mentor, and friend to so many at the Jones Center. His passion for pickleballāand for players turned friendsāmade a lasting impact on us all.
Scott passed away Tuesday night at home, surrounded by the people who loved him. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, students, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we gather for Pickle-looza tomorrow, weāll be thinking of Scott and celebrating the game and community he loved so much. We canāt think of a better way to honor his memory than to come together, play hard, laugh often, and enjoy the sport he gave so much to!
Weāll see you on the courts, Scott. šš
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
