Hoosic Valley Welcomes New Athletic Director, James "Jimmy" Acker!!
Hoosic Valley Central School is pleased to welcome Jimmy Acker as the district’s new Athletic Director.
Acker is no stranger to the Hoosic Valley community. This school year marks his sixth year as a Physical Education teacher in the district. In addition to his work in the classroom, Acker has been actively involved in Hoosic Valley Athletics as a coach. He currently serves as the JV Boys Basketball coach and Varsity Baseball coach and has coached multiple sports throughout his time at Hoosic Valley.
His experiences as a physical education teacher and coach have given him the opportunity to work closely with students and student-athletes and have helped him develop a strong appreciation for the role athletics plays in the Hoosic Valley school community.
As Athletic Director, Acker hopes to build on the district’s strong athletic tradition while creating an environment where student-athletes can grow, compete, and succeed.
“My goal is to create a positive, competitive, and supportive environment where our student-athletes can succeed both on and off the field,” Acker said. “Athletics provides valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, accountability, and respect, and I look forward to supporting our coaches and athletes while continuing to build school spirit and strong athletic programs.”
In his new role, Acker will work closely with Hoosic Valley’s coaches, student-athletes, families, and community to support the district’s athletic programs and ensure students have positive and meaningful experiences through participation in athletics.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working with our students, coaches, families, and community in this new role,” Acker said.
With his experience as a teacher, coach, and member of the Hoosic Valley community, Acker brings a familiar face and a strong commitment to students to his new position.
