VCRC Genbu-Kai Karate Group We are a traditional Japanese Sh*to-Ryu Karate-Do Genbu-Kai school in Valley Center, Kansas since 1991. Monthly Dues:
$30 a month for the 1st member.

Welcome to the Japan Karate-Do Genbu-Kai of Valley Center, Kansas page. We are a traditional Japanese Sh*to-Ryu Karate-Do school, as well as a proud member of the Genbu-Kai International organization, founded by Shihan Fumio Demura. The Genbu-Kai organization has schools teaching Sh*to-Ryu karate throughout the United States, and in more than 30 countries around the world. Our local schoo

l was started here in Valley Center, Kansas in 1991 by our Chief Instructor, Dean Heinitz, who has been practicing karate in the Genbu-Kai organization since 1972. We partner with the Valley Center Recreation Commission and our classes are:

Tues & Thur 6:30 to 7:30 PM for ages 6+ and adults who want to work with their kids
Tues & Thur 7:30 to 8:30 PM for ages 18+

Classes available for ages 6 and older. Family Rate:
$10 off 2nd family member.
$20 off 3rd family member.
$30 off 4th family member.

Last year our dojo had the privilege of meeting a traveling return student, Tylie Madison Baumgardner. She was so dedicated that she traveled 3 hours one way, twice a week to train with us.

Life and jobs have taken them into new parts of the country since then but we got to reconnect again this weekend at the tournament.

Even though she isn't training in our dojo at the moment, she's still a part of our dojo family here in Valley Center, KS.

Such a great weekend. We learned so much and met new friends this weekend. Can't wait for next year.

Registration information has been sent out for our 49th Anniversary Invitational Event! The Kansas Demura Cup Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 25 at St. Mary's Colgan Fieldhouse Opening Ceremony begins at 9:00am.

Representing the Demura Ha Sh*to Ryu Karate Do Genbu Kai Honbu dojo, Sensei David Hines, President, and Sensei Christie Hines will be in attendance as a special guest instructors.

We look forward to a great weekend of training, competition, and seeing our Genbu-Kai and karate family!

SPECTATORS are welcome to come watch the tournament free of charge! Come check it out!

Christmas came early to our dojo this week! We received brand new Century 1" thick mats courtesy of Valley Center Recreation Commission .

Thank you to all of those last night that helped us get them off of the pallets, break them out, and surgically cut all of the borders to make them really shine. No more aches and pains from joint issues from a hard floor, just the normal aches and pains of working hard to perfect our martial art.

Now is the perfect time to get signed up. We're in the start of a new month and have new mats to work on. Come join our karate family and enjoy working on the mats with us.
