Tonight is the night for our fun tournament! Did I mention there will be medals?

This will be a lite fun tournament giving everyone training on either judging, how a tournament works and get everyone excited a little bit more for future tournaments.

It is a bittersweet moment in our dojo. Last Thursday was Tylie Madison Baumgardner last night with us for awhile.

Tylie, originally from the Pittsburg KS dojo, has been training with us for the last several months after a hiatus of a few years in her karate journey.

Each Tuesday and Thursday night, she has been traveling 3 hours one way from Nebraska to Valley Center, KS to train with us and then make the same trip back that night. Her dedication and heart will be missed in our dojo as she and her husband now have to continue their journey to a new state for his job.

Before she left though, I told Tylie that when she comes back to compete in our Genbu-Kai tournaments she can't say she's from the Pittsburg dojo anymore but from the Valley Center dojo. 🤣🥋

Calling all former black belts and red belts that were formerly in Genbu-Kai in the Wichita or Kansas area! We need your help. We are going to have a fun tournament Sept 16th and 18th during our regular class time. We need your help where you participate as a judge again. It doesn't matter if you've been out of karate for years or not. We will help you get caught back up.

The tournament on the 16th will consist of kata & team kata with various ages/ranks. The 18th will consist of kumite and team kumite, again various ages/ranks. Feel free to come by the dojo to speak with myself (Steven Brant) or Michael Walker Tue or Thur nights at 7 PM prior to the tournament or message me directly. We look forward to seeing you there.

We will be cancelling class tonight, June 17th, due to the expected severe weather right around when class begins. We don't have enough lifeboats there at the Rec Center to get everyone home safely 😂. Stay safe, practice at home and we'll see you Thursday June 19th.🥋🥋
