BREAKING NEWS: Multiple events leading up to the National Finals Rodeo have been postponed.

The National Finals of Breakaway Roping, PRCA Permit Challenge, and Benny Binion Bucking Horse Sale were originally set for Dec 2-4 at South Point Arena.

Following new biosecurity guidelines issued Nov. 21, PRCA and WPRA are evaluating new dates and host venues.

Effective today we have made the decision to halt all equine events through November 27th. Together, we recognize the seriousness of this strain and the responsibility we all share in protecting the health of our horses and our community.

This pause allows time for conditions to settle and for everyone to implement appropriate biosecurity measures, sort out facts from social media misinformation, and understand the new Arizona Interstate Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (ICVI) Health requirements.

Anyone who had contact with horses linked to the confirmed exposure site should remain quarantined and follow veterinary guidance before traveling or competing. We also encourage all exhibitors to stay vigilant: monitor temperatures, avoid commingling, refrain from sharing equipment, disinfect stalls and gear, and isolate any horse showing signs of illness.

This industry is the livelihood of so many, and none of it would exist without the equine athletes we are committed to safeguarding. The next 8–10 days are critical as we work together to slow the spread and ensure that large-scale winter events can continue as planned.

Our prayers are with those already affected by this strain of EHV-1. We will share additional updates as needed.
