Good morning Triathletes,

Race day is fast approaching! Here are a few reminders and an update.

Saturday is looking calm (no rain) and cool. Be prepared for a brisk start. We have attached a race day schedule below. You can pick up your packet at the Lake Frances boat ramp on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00pm or early Saturday morning. Look for our white canopy at the finish line.

I often remind non-competitors that we (participants) don't do this because it is easy. There may not be mud like we had in '23, but there will be other challenges. Namely, the bike course has a slight detour due to a water/sewer line project blocking the route. I have attached an alternate course map below. We will have the changes well marked and if all the volunteers show up, we will have people directing you at the corners. Please review the map and feel free to scout the course.

*You can find the new bike route on MapMyRun - Alternate PPP Bike Route

**Follow Lake Road north from the bike corral. Take a left onto 2nd Street and the next right onto Pondera Ave. Pondera will meet Hwy44. Take a right onto Hwy44 and follow the course as outlined. Follow the same route on your return.

***There will be more gravel, but fewer potholes, so there's that!

We will set up the bike rack Thursday evening. Feel free to practice racking your bike, transitioning from bike to run, etc.

We want you to have a great time on Saturday, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, needs, etc.

See you soon!

Hey, Triathletes!
The Run Leg of the Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon is a flat 3 Mile loop around the airport and through town ending at the boat ramp area. Runners will exit the bike corral and proceed onto the unpaved east end of Lake Road. The first mile is on dirt. When presented with an option or fork in the road, stay left for the shortest route. The right forks create a wider loop but may have a smoother surface. Take a hard left at the water/aid station and proceed west on Illinois. Run on the left of all streets and paved roads. There may be a flagger on Illinois and Montana Street. This is a low traffic area but be watchful at all intersections. Follow Illinois until it ends at 2nd Street. Turn right (north) onto 2nd St (about 3 blocks) and then left (west) onto Dupuyer. Follow Dupuyer to Lake Road, turn left, at the white registration tent.

A map is attached.

We have a chance of rain on Thursday and Friday. If it’s muddy, you’ll probably have a permanent reminder on your shoes so you may want to bring your “old runners” just in case.

A small stool or bucket to sit on while changing shoes offers stability and an opportunity to rest. A towel for wiping and drying your feet can also come in handy.

Stay safe. Stay courteous. Above all, have FUN!

See you soon!

Good morning!
It's race week! This is a quick reminder that registration ends tomorrow, June 9, at midnight.⏳

There is a strong possibility that this may be our last Triple P, so if you've been sitting on the fence, hop off and sign up!

Several things will factor in that decision including declining volunteer and participant numbers, increasing costs (especially insurance coverage), scheduling conflicts, and other personal commitments. (Desperately seeking an apprentice Race Director!) 🏁🎬

Now is the time!

Hope to see you soon!

Hey there, Triathletes!
These are the instructions for the bike leg of the Triple P. Please read and feel free to reach out if you have questions. The course is paved, but there are some rough spots.

The Bike Leg of the Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon is a 12 Mile out and back course with long rolling hills. BIKE HELMETS ARE MANDATORY! Competitors exit the bike corral as instructed. Ride on the right side of the road at all times. Proceed north on Lake Road. It will turn east onto Teton Avenue. Obey the flagger at the intersection of Teton Avenue, 4th Street, and Highway 44. Continue east on Highway 44 to East Lake Road. Turn south onto East Lake Road and proceed to the turnaround and aide station at Mile 6. You must complete the turnaround! Follow the same route to return to the bike corral. Use caution when completing the turn from East Lake onto Highway 44 and from Highway 44 to Teton Ave. Flaggers will be slowing traffic, but this is a busy state highway. Be Safe!

*Map is attached.

When you return to the bike exchange, dismount your bike before entering the bike corral. Walk your bike to an available spot on the bike rack and park it.

Timers will be using your bib number to record your transition time. Be sure it is visible. You may call out your number if you wish.

Exit the corral and proceed to the run course.

Teams will “hand off” inside the bike corral.

Hazards will be marked with paint or cones! Please be aware of these potential hazard spots:

*Teton Avenue. This is a paved road in need of repairs! Only the worst spots will be marked. It’s a good idea to scope out the course prior to the race.

*Speaking of hazards, there is some infrastructure going on at the corner of Teton and 4th Street. We are hoping it is completed and loose gravel cleaned up by race day. In the event we have to re-route, we will make the decision by Thursday evening to give participants time to plan accordingly. That said, road bike tires may not be your optimum choice. We will be in touch!

*Intersection of Teton/4th/Hwy 44. Pay attention to flaggers!

*Intersection of Hwy 44 and East Lake Road.

*Railroad Tracks. The tracks are abandoned, but they are a bit rough. They cross Hwy 44 just east of Valier and again on East Lake Road. We will do our best to have them smoothed out for you.

Stay safe. Stay courteous. Above all, have FUN! The views are amazing!

Reminder: Registration closes at midnight on Tuesday, June 9.

See you soon!

Greetings Triathletes!

Let the email invasion begin! You can expect to hear from us often in the following days.

The Kayak Leg of the Lake Frances Triple P Triathlon is approximately 1.5 Mile course around the island. For this year’s race competitors will be assigned a bib number and start order.

The On Deck and Start Area will be near the boat ramp - exact location to be determined closer to race day. You will be able to drive close to the start to unload your kayak. We ask that you arrive by 7:00am to prepare for the 8:00 am start. There may be mud if the forecast is correct!

LIFE JACKETS AND FOOTWEAR ARE MANDATORY!

Kayakers will await instructions to move from On Deck to enter the water and wait behind the marked starting line for the signal to begin.

We will be using Competitive Timing’s mobile app this year. Racers will be started individually which has the potential to give you a more accurate time. We may ask that you call out your bib number when you enter transition areas. More on that at Packet Pick-up.

The course will be marked with interesting and colorful buoys. Follow the course in a clockwise direction keeping all buoys to your right. The course will end at the best location to exit your kayak and make your way to the bike corral. Be sure to paddle BETWEEN the gate (buoys) before exiting.

Once again volunteers will be there to assist you as you exit your kayak. Drop your life jacket with your kayak. The volunteers will then “park” the kayaks for retrieval by owners after the race. You will need your race number to identify your kayak.

Proceed up the bank to the bike corral where you will transition to biking gear or pass your virtual baton to your biking team member. It's a good idea to practice your transition, such as changing from water shoes to bike or running shoes, donning your HELMET and bike gloves, etc. This will help you on race day!

Anyone in need of a kayak to use on race day can reach out via email ASAP to [email protected] . We may be able to locate a loaner for you.

Stay safe. Stay courteous. Above all, have FUN!

Good Morning, Sports Fans!
We just wanted to let you know about a few things going on at the lake before race day.

Some of you will recall that we've had a fitness cluster project in the works for some time. We are happy to announce that they have been installed complete with user instructions and are available for your use and enjoyment. They are located just beyond our finish line. You'll be able to see them as you complete the run leg of the Triple P. They were completed with many volunteer hands. Thank a volunteer!

We have a plethora of waterfowl on the island this year! Yes, the island is back, but no guarantees the water will still be that high on race day. We always adapt! Anyhow, it looks like all the American White Pelicans in Montana have congregated on the island at Lake Frances. So many birds!

We will chart our kayak course according to conditions, but rest assured it will be as close to 1.5 miles as possible - and just for fun, Cathy (Kayak Course Guru) has secured some fun new markers. Think - dinosaurs and sea creatures.

Lastly, registration closes June 9. Tell your friends. Tell your competitors. Don't forget to register! Our numbers are down a bit compared to previous years. Hey, you could win your age group!

Anyhow, hope to see you soon,

The Triple P Team
