Word is spreading from Florida to Ohio that Valdosta Bike Center is becoming a big player in vintage bicycles and parts. Picked up a van full from South Carolina this past weekend. Most of these items will be going up on our EBay store. We also received 2 more vintage bicycles in the shop this past week that need our full vintage makeover.

This Pepsi machine from the early 1960s was purchased from the Morris family a few years ago.

Mr. Morris owned and operated the family owned Morris Repair Shop selling Schwinn bicycles on Ashley street and this Pepsi machine was in his shop years ago. Customers have told the story when they were young, they would go in the shop after school and purchase a Pepsi for a dime. There was a US map above the machine with stick pins. They would flip the bottle over and see where the Pepsi was bottled at and then pin the city on the map. The one closest to Valdosta would have to purchase the drinks for the ones further away.

We were able to plug the machine in and the compressor/power came on and it cooled. We are hoping to get it completely operating again on down the road.

A walk through the shop and you can see several items and bicycles from the Morris Shop. The Morris Repair Shop was instrumental in servicing and selling bicycles for many years in Valdosta and we hope to continue their legacy as best as we can.

The Schwinn metal sign also hung in the shop and the Schwinn Stingray Orange Krate was in the window for many years.

We just closed out a record month in the shop for May:

15 used bikes sold
19 new bikes sold (14 of these were Ebikes)
91 customer bicycle workorders completed
1 bike stolen

All of this with a minimum staff (lots of vacation time) while maintaining “only a 2 week wait” for repairs.

AND we were able to get some pinball time in.
