So let me get this straight…
At 18, you’re considered old enough to join the military, carry a rifle in defense of our country, vote, sign contracts, get married, and in many cases be charged and sentenced as an adult.
But somehow you’re not old enough to own a firearm to defend yourself, your family, or your home?
Michigan already passed a permit-to-purchase requirement. In many communities, obtaining that permit means taking time off work to visit a police department during limited business hours and paying additional fees. Law-abiding citizens jump through more hoops while criminals continue ignoring the laws already on the books.
The answer isn’t restricting the rights of responsible citizens. Criminals, by definition, don’t follow gun laws.
The Second Amendment wasn’t written for hunting. It wasn’t written for sport shooting. It was written to protect the people’s right to keep and bear arms.
Our rights don’t come from politicians in Lansing or Washington. They are recognized and protected by the Constitution because they already belong to the people.
Enforce the laws we have. Prosecute violent criminals. Address mental health. Stop pretending that making life harder for law-abiding citizens will somehow stop criminals from breaking the law.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The order lays out an approach to recommendations given by the task force in their final report, according to a news release from the governor's office.
Included in the recommendations are the following:
-Required waiting periods when someone buys a gun.
-Raising the minimum gun-buying age to 21.
-Banning so-called ghost guns, which are homemade.
-Standardizing training for school resource officers.
-Prohibiting the possession of large-capacity magazines and devices that convert guns to be fully automatic.
