Almost 13 years ago, Underdog started out selling softball bats, gloves, and gear. Our product lineup looks a little different these days, but softball is still a big part of our roots.

So it feels damn good when one of the teams we sponsor brings home the hardware. 🏆

Great explanation of everything currently happening with the NFA!

But for us Michiganders, there’s another wrinkle we need to be paying VERY close attention to: MCL 750.224.

Michigan law still prohibits possession of a suppressor, with an exception for a person who is federally licensed to manufacture, sell, or possess one.

That creates a pretty important question if the federal NFA registration/approval requirements ultimately go away:

What exactly happens to Michigan’s federal-licensing exception?

There are arguments about how that language should apply if federal registration and Form 4 approval are no longer required. But until we get clarification from Michigan courts, the Legislature, Attorney General, MSP, or other appropriate authority, I would be VERY cautious about assuming that a federal victory automatically eliminates Michigan’s requirements.

Remember, violating MCL 750.224 is potentially a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Do you want to be the guy jumping on the gr***de so everybody else can find out how Michigan interprets it?

Do you have a couple million dollars lying around to fight that case all the way through the courts?!

I DON’T! 😂

This is a HUGE development for the Second Amendment and the NFA, but Michigan gun owners need to understand that federal law is only part of the equation.

Stay informed. Don’t confuse a headline with legal advice. And let’s see where this goes.

So let me get this straight…

At 18, you’re considered old enough to join the military, carry a rifle in defense of our country, vote, sign contracts, get married, and in many cases be charged and sentenced as an adult.

But somehow you’re not old enough to own a firearm to defend yourself, your family, or your home?

Michigan already passed a permit-to-purchase requirement. In many communities, obtaining that permit means taking time off work to visit a police department during limited business hours and paying additional fees. Law-abiding citizens jump through more hoops while criminals continue ignoring the laws already on the books.

The answer isn’t restricting the rights of responsible citizens. Criminals, by definition, don’t follow gun laws.

The Second Amendment wasn’t written for hunting. It wasn’t written for sport shooting. It was written to protect the people’s right to keep and bear arms.

Our rights don’t come from politicians in Lansing or Washington. They are recognized and protected by the Constitution because they already belong to the people.

Enforce the laws we have. Prosecute violent criminals. Address mental health. Stop pretending that making life harder for law-abiding citizens will somehow stop criminals from breaking the law.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

ENDOWED BY THEIR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN UNALIENABLE RIGHTS!!

The order lays out an approach to recommendations given by the task force in their final report, according to a news release from the governor's office.

Included in the recommendations are the following:

-Required waiting periods when someone buys a gun.
-Raising the minimum gun-buying age to 21.
-Banning so-called ghost guns, which are homemade.
-Standardizing training for school resource officers.
-Prohibiting the possession of large-capacity magazines and devices that convert guns to be fully automatic.

So many rights have been chipped away, regulated, delayed, and “temporarily” restricted that even a small win feels like finding an extra nugget in the bottom of the fries. But for today, we’ll take it.

A win is a win.

ATF is removing the two sentences from its regulatory definitions of "machine gun" that included bump stocks. This directly implements the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2024 decision in Garland v. Cargill, which ruled that semiautomatic rifles with bump stocks are not machine guns under the National Fi****ms Act. The change aligns ATF’s regulations with the statute and the Court’s binding interpretation.
