Fishing Report 8/26/26
Lots to report. Team Mike's Walleye Rigs had a 2nd place finish in the August Erie Walleye Bash. I'll give you all the details on techniques used in the tournament.
Had an awesome day fishing with Claire. Claire was our guest of honor in the Fishin' For a Wish Event. Thanks Tyler and Haley Smith for sharing some time with your little princess. This little 4 year girl is not afraid to hold a worm or touch a fish.

Boys if that gal you're eyeballing can't zipper a walleye filet, just walk on by.
The walleye bite is still hot. Fish dropped
back down after that blow we had earlier this week. This has made our drifting pattern turn back on. Ran a couple charters the last couple days and had a great time. With this drifting pattern we can let out clients run the gear as much as they want. The guys were really getting into it, watching the forward facing sonar and bringing gear right into the strike zone. Mike's Walleye Rigs Wackem spoons were doing most of the work. These rigs are great because they work at such a large range of speeds.
Miss Julie and I made a couple trips ourselves. We spent our time casting hair jigs using forward facing sonar. We have been doing a bunch of jigging this season and really learning the game. It is a total blast. Seems like our most consistent bait is a 3/4 oz purple hair jig tipped with a half nightcrawler. Been getting our jigs from
Poor Richards Bait and Tackle they make a great jig at a good pc lol p price. Can't beat Poor Richards for the convenience to the Walnut Creek Access. They have all the bait, baits and ice you will need. They even have a selection of Mike's Walleye Rigs Spoon/Harness. It is easy to get in and out of even with a big boat.

For those guys looking for some copper backed willow blades we added some to our line up. These are custom painted with our "tougher than rocks" finish. We have them in wire harness and in 3 pack blade only.
Willows blades will run at higher speeds than Colorado blades. We call these our Meat and Taters line. They are a staple to run behind dipsey divers and downriggers in Central and Eastern Basin Lake Erie. Also great for water with toothy critters like pike and muskies.
We also carry a large selection wire harness with custom painted Colorado blades and powder coated willows.

The 2026 walleye season is starting out incredible. We have been catching quick limits each trip. This season we will be adding drifting and jigging to our charters when conditions allow or at customers request. Our goal is to tailor our trips to our customers desires.
