I love rucking because no matter how I feel, I know I’m capable of putting my rucksack on and rucking for 30-60 mins. I had a heavy lifting session last night, my legs are smoked, and I felt lazy. I decided to choose the harder thing and go for a ruck. 3 miles with 55lbs felt good. still had some left in the tank when I got back so I did a quick ruckWOD and got that heart rate up. I feel 10x better than I did when I left.
Because rucking is so scalable in terms of weight, pace and load, rucking can be recovery work or conditioning. Because rucking is walking under load, not only does the cardiovascular system get trained, we also strengthen our hips, core, back and legs. It’s quite literally, a jack of all trades type of exercise.
