Cricket Club of Illinois invites (self-) nominations for the following leadership positions for the Executive Committee (EC) of the club for the year 2022-23:
1) President: CEO of the club and chair of EC
2) Treasurer: budgeting, accounting, and overall finances of the club
3) Vice President: primary liaison of the club with other organizations/clubs
4) Secretary: communication within the club, social media, advertising club events, and other record keeping
5) Membership Director/Events Coordinator: oversees club events, with help of event committees
For the efficient working of the EC, the officers are expected to help each other out and make decisions about the club after mutual consultation. If you need more information about any of these roles, please send us a message.
How to nominate yourself?
You must be a student or faculty/staff at UIUC to be an officer of the EC.

Hey everyone,

Pretty excited to announce that we will be resuming our bi-annual TapeBall South Quad tournament this semester.

The tournament will start from September 18/25(depending on availability of South Quad/ teams) and go on till October end. We also will have South Quad reserved on weekdays for teams to practice. More information on the practice stuff later this week/ early next week

The tournament will be 10-10 overs each - 8 people team (squad can be as large as you want).

The registration cost for each team will $100.

The tournament format, schedule etc. will be released later but each team will have atleast 6 league matches to play in.

Congratulations to Shaheen Gymkhana on winning the Illini Cricket Cup Spring 2021! The final was a low-scoring affair. Batting first, Demolition Kings were all-out for 48 runs in 7.4 overs. Shaheen Gymkhana survived an initial scare, when they were 2 down for 9 runs in 2 overs, to chase down the total in 6 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

We are in the final weekend of the Illini Cricket Cup Spring 2021, with play offs to be held on Sunday 5/2/21. Four teams are in contention for the cup:

11AM-1PM Semi-Final 1: The Batmen vs Demolition Kings
1PM-3PM Semi-Final 2: Shaheen Gymkhana vs Baazigars
3:30PM Final

Also announcing the awards for the league stage:
Best Batsman: Momin Farooq (Underdogs) with 264 runs
Best Bowler: Narendra Patel (Underdogs) with 14 wickets
Best All-Rounder: Lakshya Lahoty (Demolition Kings)

Elections for the Executive Committee 2021/22 are now underway. Voting will be open until 6pm on Tuesday 4/27. A sample ballot is available at: https://www.opavote.com/en/vote/6068750441775104?p=1

To be eligible to vote, you must satisfy one of the following two criteria:

1) part of the competitive leather ball club cricket team.
2) participated in the on-campus tapeball tournament (the Illini Cricket Cup) Spring 2021 (please note that there was no Fall 2021 tournament).

If you satisfy the criteria (or become eligible between now and 6pm Tuesday), but have not yet received the voting email, send us a message.

For each position, please rank the candidates in order of preference. We will be using instant run off voting using the San Francisco RCV rules (https://www.opavote.com/methods/san-francisco-rcv-rules). The voting is anonymous so that we can not see your ballot or what you vote for.

Illini Cricket Cup is almost half way done. Without weather interruptions, we were able to have some exciting cricket at the South Quad. Momin Farooq (Underdogs) was the top scorer with 97 (37) and Lakshya Lahoty (Demolition Kings) had the best bowling figures of 4 wickets for 1 run in 3 overs. Overall, four 50s were scored on the weekend, 2 by Momin (Underdogs) and 1 each by Aayush Asthana (Demolition Kings) and Prateek Sharma (The Batmen).

With 4 teams to qualify for the semis, the points table is looking really exciting at the half way mark.

Illini Cricket Cup Spring 2021 kicks off this Saturday with seven teams vying for the trophy. We will hold one last practice tomorrow (Friday 4/9/21) weather permitting. Are you looking for a team? Join us at 5PM on South Quad. Some teams are still eager to induct new players.
