A great day for rugby at Brookdale Park.

Around 200 people came out over Labor Day weekend for our first match day on the new Brookdale Park soccer pitch, and both sides got plenty of rugby in.

White Plains had to forfeit the D2 fixture beforehand due to low numbers, but the rugby still went ahead against a mixed White Plains D1/D2 side. It was a proper contest from start to finish and could have gone either way right up to the final whistle.

The on-field score finished White Plains 32โ€“27 Montclair. Officially, Montclair takes the 28โ€“0 win and all five league points.

Our Development side, joined by our friends from NOJO, also had a tough assignment against a strong mixed New York Rugby Club squad. The scoreline doesnโ€™t tell the full story. There was plenty of good defense, hard work and positive rugby from a group that is only going to get better as the season moves forward.

Big thanks again to the NOJO boys for stepping up and joining forces with our Development side.

We have a bye next weekend, with South Africa vs New Zealand in Baltimore, before weโ€™re back at it in two weeks.

NYRC and Union are next. STAY TUNED FOR MORE GREAT NEWS FROM THIS WEEKEND.

This weekend at Shawnee Inn, we celebrated something much bigger than rugby.

We celebrated 50 years of Montclair. 50 years of players, coaches, families, Old Boys, and friends who helped build this club into what it is today.

For half a century, Montclair Rugby has been more than a team. It has been a family. It has been a place where lifelong friendships were formed, where generations of players learned what brotherhood means, and where people from all backgrounds came together under one badge.

In the last few years, we have lost 29 Montclair ruggers. Teammates. Friends. Brothers. Clubmen. Their absence is deeply felt, but their legacy lives on in everything we do. Every time we take the field, every time we gather as a club, every time a new player puts on the jersey, they are with us.

What has been built here is truly unprecedented. But none of it happens without the Old Boys who came before us. The men who laid the foundation, carried the club through every era, kept the traditions alive, and made sure Montclair Rugby would still be standing strong 50 years later.

To everyone who joined us at Shawnee Inn, thank you. It was a truly remarkable experience and a reminder of how powerful this club community really is.

This is not just about looking back. It is about carrying the legacy forward.

Hereโ€™s to the past 50 years, and to the next 50 still to come.

Letโ€™s go America.
Letโ€™s go Montclair Rugby.

This Saturdayโ€™s match against Monmouth was played in absolutely brutal conditions, with rain coming down throughout the day, but the Montclair lads showed up and put in a solid, physical performance against a tough opponent. At times, the defensive puzzle Monmouth put in front of us looked hard to solve, but we kept pressure on, spent much of the first half in their territory, and went into halftime up 3โ€“0 thanks to Sky, our temporary fullback, drilling an outstanding 40-meter drop kick to give us the lead and a little breathing room. The second half brought more of the same: a close, physical battle, with Montclair making more than 10 substitutions โ€” a real testament to how we are using this spring to get everyone meaningful playing time.

Eventually, Milan, our captain, caught the defense on the wrong foot, beat a couple of defenders, and finished off a strong try. Brendan, our No. 8, followed with a classic bulldozing effort inside the 22, putting pressure on the defense, stepping through contact, and powering over the line. Overall, this was a great character-building performance. Thank you to .rugby for traveling on such a hard day, and thank you to everyone who came out in the rain to support the club.

Next up: Long Island away next week.
