Goldfish Swim School – Upper Arlington is a state-of-the-art swimming facility dedicated to teaching children as young as 4 months old. It’s more than vibrant colors chosen to inspire kids. More than a curriculum crafted to not only teach kids to swim but also to build their character through guided play. More than a shiver-free pool heated to 90 degrees. There’s something more. Something beyond t

ypical. It’s passion. Not just a passion for kids or a passion for swimming…it’s a special passion for changing – even saving – lives by teaching kids to swim and be safer in and around the water. We use our holistic philosophy, The Science of SwimPlay®, to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment. In a class size of no more than 4 children to 1 swim instructor, children master the skills they need to be safer and confident in the water. Beginning as early as 4 months, children progress through a series of perpetual swimming lessons, graduating to higher levels of difficulty as swimming skills are mastered. Goldfish also offers special events like parties, Family Swim, accelerated Jump Start Clinics and our Goldfish Swim Force Team, catered to swimmers who have completed the Goldfish Pro Level. Goldfish Swim School – Upper Arlington is proud to help teach the children of the great community of Upper Arlington, OH how to swim and be safer in the water. "Why do we teach kids to jump in and turn to the wall?"

It might look simple, but this is one of the most important water safety skills kids can learn.

If a child accidentally falls into a pool, the most common response is to swim towards the first wall they see. The problem with this is that it's often the farthest from them.
By teaching them to jump in and turn to the wall behind them, we're helping program into muscle memory that the wall behind them is the closest.

This skill teaches swimmers how to:
✔️stay calm after entering the water
✔️turn their body to find the wall
✔️move to safety and get out

It's not just practice, it's preparation.
In the water, knowing what to do right away can make all the difference.

Have you seen your swimmer practice this skill yet?

It is time for yet another SWIMtastic Start Student Sunday!!! Aria has only been with us since January, but you would never guess it by how far she has come already! She started out in our junior levels and is now almost a pro level swimmer — her growth and hard work have been incredible to watch. 💦👏 Not only is Aria an amazing swimmer, but she is also such a kind and welcoming friend to everyone around her. "How do kids actually build confidence in the water?"

Water confidence doesn't happen all at once, it's built over time.

For babies, toddlers, and young swimmers, confidence starts with feeling comfortable in the water and learning how to move safely with guidance and support.

Through consistent lessons, kids begin to:
✔️gain real, repeatable water safety skills
✔️show measurable progress from one lesson to the next
✔️ build confidence as they master new skills step by step

Each lesson builds on the last, helping swimmers grow more capable and confident step by step. Because real water confidence isn't given, it's built through experience, repetition, and progress.

💬 What's something you've seen your swimmer become more confident doing recently?

"What's the best swim program for beginner swimmers?"

If you've been searching for a swim school near me, you've probably wondered where your child should start, especially if they're brand new to the water.
The good news is: finding the perfect swim school fit for your family might be easier than you think.

At Goldfish Swim School, we meet kids where they are. Early levels focus on building comfort in the water, introducing foundational skills like floating and safe movement, and helping swimmers see real results.

As they progress, those skills continue to build, always at a pace that supports both safety and growth. Because every swimmer starts somewhere, and the right starting point makes all the difference.

💬 Not sure which level is right for your child? Drop us a comment, or send us a DM! We're happy to help.

Happy and say hello to our Employee of the Month, Selah! She’s been a valued part of our team for quite some time and continues to make a lasting impact every day she’s on deck.

Selah has a special gift for building genuine connections with her swimmers, helping each child feel comfortable, confident, and truly welcomed in the water. Her positive energy sets the tone in every class she teaches.

And if you catch her on break… there’s a good chance you’ll see her bringing the vibes with a TikTok dance or two on deck 💃

We’re so lucky to have her on our team, congrats, Selah! 👏

Happy everyone! It’s hard to believe Rosemary has only been with us for less than 2 months because the progress she has made already is amazing. When she first started, she was absolutely terrified of the water and wouldn’t put her face in at all. Now, she comes into lessons smiling, ready to go, and has no problem putting her face in the water! 💦 Rosemary always brings such a positive attitude to class, and it has been so fun watching her confidence grow every single week. The mental and physical progress she has made in such a short amount of time makes us so proud.

"What age should toddlers start swimming lessons?"

It's one of the most common questions parents ask, especially as summer approaches.
Many toddlers can begin swim lessons earlier than parents expect. At this stage, lessons focus on building comfort in the water while introducing foundational water safety skills alongside a parent or caregiver.

Over time, toddlers start developing important abilities like floating, moving through the water with support, and responding to simple instructions. All of these things contribute to safer behavior around water.

Learning to swim is a process, and starting early helps build skills, see real progress, and gain confidence step by step.

Curious if your toddler is ready to get started? We're happy to help.
