Change is an inevitable part of life, and tomorrow marks my last Saturday STEP class at our local Upland LA Fitness. While my heart feels heavy, I’m uplifted by the knowledge that our classes will continue at the Rancho Cucamonga location, and for that, I am truly grateful.

I began my journey with LA Fitness over 38 years ago, starting at the LaVerne location (by the old Baxters and CoCo’s), then moving to Montclair, and spending many years at Campus and Foothill. For the past 20 years, I’ve been at the 19th Street location. Although I've navigated closures and relocations, one thing has remained constant: the strength of our community. I cherish every moment spent with my dedicated gym family—those familiar faces that have long since become wonderful friendships, along with the many people I see weekly, sharing smiles, laughs, high-fives, and warm hugs.

It’s easy to take for granted the morning greetings, the camaraderie, and the warmth that fills the space as we walk from the front door to the aerobics room. That coupled with the vibrant energy that fills the room once we all get moving together is the best motivator one could ask for!

I know many of you will continue this journey with me to Rancho Cucamonga (starting Tuesday, April 22nd), but I will deeply miss the connections we’ve built here in Upland, especially as many will disperse to other locations.

For sure let’s make the most of our remaining time together! I hope you will join me for our last classes tomorrow and on the 15th! And if anyone asks, please let them know we will be in Rancho!

Here’s to new beginnings and the wonderful community we’ve all created. 💖✨

🌟 Let's Go 2025! 🌟

As we kick off the new year, it’s easy to get swept up in setting big resolutions and lofty goals. But what if we take a different approach? Instead of making hard, fast proclamations (like a crash diet or hitting the gym five times a week), what if the focus is on small, sustainable changes that lead to long-term success?! Because ultimately, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to get moving and build habits we can stick with!
Consistency is key! Yesterday morning, I set a positive trajectory for myself with my Monday group by completing our morning workout together, and it felt amazing! Since 2020, we’ve been meeting, and I can’t express enough my gratitude for this community🙌🙏🏼🩷. My personal tweak this year is to maintain the consistency I’ve built in workouts while incorporating slightly heavier weights into my lifts. As I approach 60 and look to the next decade of my life, prioritizing my health span is crucial — not just for me, but for my loved ones as well. A small shift in focus toward more strength, while continuing to balance functional mobility and core, is my priority. Over the long haul this can help me avoid bone and muscle loss while ensuring freedom to do other things in my life I enjoy.
James Clear, author of *Atomic Habits* (a motivational must-read), illustrates this beautifully with the analogy of a pilot adjusting their course by just 3.5 degrees. That small change may seem insignificant at first, but it can lead to a completely different destination over time.
After all, it’s not about perfection or just one goal; it’s about progress. By allowing ourselves to take baby steps and prioritizing consistency, we can create habits that stick and avoid the all-or-nothing cycle that often leads to frustration and defeat.

Let’s celebrate each small achievement and keep moving forward together! 💪✨
