It's practice night at Dirt Floor Raceway - Dirt Oval. I'm gonna test the new front wing. I removed as much front brass as the new front wing adds and made no other changes to the car including tires. Will it unhook the back of the car like predicted? We'll see. I'm also gonna do some tire testing and break-in after the front wing test.

Here's my 3D printed front wing and wing mount. The wing center section is a true airfoil and is printed from a stiff and tough material. The mount is printed with a tough and flexible material.
The center of the wing section is hollow but even then, the wing and mounts are about 25 grams heavier than a similar size lexan front wing and mount. I guess I can take a little brass off the nose to compensate.

I made one of these about three years ago but never put it on a car.
As soon as I showed a pic of it the internet keyboard jockeys started circling and immediately poo-poo'd it as too heavy and said it would fall apart immediately. Now there are several companies making and selling them.

It's "funny" how mean and short sighted some racers can be.

The weather was beautiful at Battleground RC Speedway for the annual Halloween Classic race. The Maclan Racing v5 10.5 motor and Formula Edge batteries had the car rolling and the MR/Kustoms Midwest Mod body had my TQC Bazooka chassis glued to the track.
I qualified 2nd and led the A main for a while before finishing in 2nd.

What's been going on at Team TQC?

I just got in my first round of the Whitz Wide Open Shootout spec tires. You can never start prepping tires too early. Does anybody have any experience with these tires on a gripped-up dirt track? Compounds? Thread depth? Sauces?

I took the TQC Spiteful sprint car out to Dirt Floor Raceway - Dirt Oval last Tuesday night and ran in the Outlaw sprint class with the fastest guys and gals in the barn. I thought a fourth place finish was pretty good.

I took the TQC Bazooka Midwest Mod out to Battleground RC Speedway last Saturday and it turned into "one of those days". As Uncle Scott always says...You have to have few tough days to really appreciate the good days. I wasn't able to get the car on the track at all until the main and let's just say the handling was "interesting" and I just rode around in the back staying out of everyone's way. It was enough to get a little read on the track to put a better setup on it in preparation for this Saturdays Halloween Classic race. Hopefully I'll have the grimmies behind me this week....we'll see.

It’s was a fun night at Dirt Floor Raceway - Dirt Oval Friday. The outdoor temps are finally heading in the right direction!

I took the TQC Spiteful sprint car out for a try on the smooth medium grip dirt and it did not disappoint. I finished 1st in the Silver Sprint class (Outlaw Sprint for old guys). I finally made my goal of 4.8 second laps. Many thanks to Scott Kidder for the setup suggestions… it helped.

The weather for the Battleground RC Speedway 16th annual North/South Shootout race was great. A light rain shower about 2 hours before practice brought the temps down to bearable.

I took the new TQC Spiteful sprint car out for its maiden run and it did not disappoint. It was surprisingly good in practice off the trailer.
It took adjustments very well and after the 2nd round I qualified 5th overall in 13.5 sprint. We drove straight into the A main with a "brand" new car! For the main, the crew chief made the right adjustments but the driver went too high in turn 4 on the first lap and we dropped to 7th. The Spiteful was easy to drive (great turn in and good forward drive off) and I managed to drive back up to a 3rd place finish with the help of the Maclan Racing V5 13.5 motor and Formula Edge batteries.

Overall, it was one of those days that make all the work and time worth it. I had fun racing and there were shenanigans in the pits and plenty of good food and cold drinks. Let's do it again soon!

The temps are down below Inferno so I took the new Spiteful out to Battleground RC Speedway for the annual North/South race.

A brand new car at a big race? We’ll see. It was pretty good in practice.

It's no secret I've been testing a CW Bullet and an Outlaw 5. They drive very differently. One works great on high bite (but very tricky to drive on lower bite) and one works good on lower bite (but has too much overall grip on high bite).

Enter TQC Codename Project In-Between. Continuing the military and weapons theme for the car names, this will be named the TQC Spiteful. The Spiteful was the fastest (and last) variant of the WW2 British Spitfire fighter.

All the chassis adjustability of the Bullet with a slightly shorter wheelbase and a little more lateral stiffness in the chassis than the Outlaw 5. The battery and body offset are right in-between the Bullet and the O5.

If the temps stay down below Inferno this weekend I'll take it out for another spin. The prototype worked great at Dirt Floor Raceway - Dirt Oval a couple of weeks ago.
