I have been a group fitness instructor and yoga enthusiast for several years. In addition to my RYT-500 yoga designation, I am a Les Mills certified instructor as well as a general aerobics and aquatics instructor. In addition to teaching yoga at Four Towers Martial Arts, for the past few years I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach yoga for two of the largest employers in central Florida-

Florida Hospital and Walt Disney World. My experience also includes teaching yoga classes on behalf of New Balance, the fitness apparel and sneaker company. Please like my page and check back for any new postings. Thank you!

Here's the latest Ycart Fitness video from the Improve & Maintain Balance series. Leg circles are great because not only do they help to improve balance, they help to tone your core and glutes.

These videos are taken from a balance course I was creating. I decided not to go forward with the course, but I'm sharing parts of the video on the Ycart Fitness YouTube channel.

Lifting one foot and twisting engages and strengthens several muscles, including your core, glutes, and hips. Strengthening those muscles will help to improve your balance. Practice at your own pace. I am barefoot, but you may wish to wear comfortable footwear. I am also lifting my entire foot, but you can just lift your heel.

Beginning next Tuesday, I will be offering Fall Prevention classes. In most of my classes, I try to integrate balance work because I know several people who have been affected by falls. Balance will be the focus of these classes.

I’ve had legal clients who have fallen or who have lost a spouse to a fall. I had a client who passed away because he kept falling. His wife repeatedly said that she knew and loved her husband for nearly 70 years, and she didn’t know what she would do without him. I will always remember the deep sadness in her voice and face when she said this to me.

Recently, a dear and sweet woman from my church passed away, which was precipitated by falls. She was such a vivacious woman so it was sad to see her decline.

My goal for these classes is to help people to improve and maintain their balance, so there are less stories of people losing their loved ones.
