Eclectic Ground (EG) arose from the premise that the true opportunity to realize true health and wellbeing comes from combining elements from multiple sources and bonding them together with community, resulting in the ultimate balance. EG is a place that exposes both the students and the practitioners to eclectic sources of wellbeing weaving them together with a positive and genuine atmosphere that honors each individual, supports the relationships among these individuals and integrates indoor and outdoor spaces for practice. As seekers, they share a common interest in wellbeing through physical, spiritual, and emotional practices. EG’s palette of physical exercise includes: various styles of martial arts, yoga and dance, Pilates, personal training and tumbling gymnastics. Along with studios for exercise, we offer treatment rooms for massage, energy work, acupuncture, counseling, physical therapy and nutrition. The indoor spaces reflect and integrate outdoor gardens and places to practice Tai Chi and meditate. All members of the community will have access to a library and a fresh juice bar. Anchoring our space are business offices, a meeting room and small dorm rooms. This approach is intended to yield multiple benefits, including reduced emergency health care costs, fewer doctor’s visits, and most of all higher qualities of life. Beyond these, EG practitioners and clients benefit from the strength of a community, bonded together by common interests, curiosities and the opportunity to share space together. At EG, we foresee a community of professionals who actively contribute to individual benefit and the greater good. We invite professional practitioners from a wide variety of fields to join EG. These practitioners include those from martial arts, physical therapy, Yoga, massage, acupuncture/acupressure, nutrition, energy work, dance and mind development, among others. Our hiring standards are established to foster a high-quality environment where our students can trust the advice and guidance they receive and practitioners are inspired to learn and grow. Practitioners are enabled to fully contribute to the sense of community we strive for—which is a place that fosters dedication, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and appreciation. We invite practitioners who share our belief in Western and Eastern medicinal practices are exceptionally talented, and are committed to continuing education and cross-training. EG creates mechanisms to encourage practitioners and clients to actively communicate and share their knowledge and respectful opinions with one another. At EG, we believe that expertise can co-exist with humble curiosity. No one person is held up as a “guru”, since all members of our community are respected for their contributions. The community we are creating would not be possible without students. We anticipate that our philosophy will attract the type of student who has been unsuccessful in finding a place for physical activity that also feeds their soul. Perhaps they have engaged in exercise for years and are in good physical health but a connection between that and their emotional and spiritual wellbeing is lacking. Perhaps they have had an injury that requires a more complex treatment plan and are looking for a place that offers multiple practices. We also expect EG to attract people looking forward to retirement or who are already retired. Now at this stage in life, wellness is something they have time and interest to more fully explore. The third demographic that EG targets, are people in middle age. These folks may wish to be healthier but are looking for consistency and discipline. Regardless of someone’s background, our students are interested in a level of personal touch--an understanding of the individual--that may not be found at gyms, yoga studios, or a physical therapist’s office. They seek a level of communication, rigor, acceptance and encouragement to help them plan for and achieve their goals and a community with whom they can share their interests and growth. Our students discover that EG is place that is safe, where they ask questions and trust the information they receive and are encouraged to seek answers and share what they’ve learned, independent of practitioners’ perspectives. When an EG student is introduced to an unfamiliar method or teaching, they experience a way of learning that is joyful and intentional rather than intimidating or fearful. Since we are building a stable, on-going community, EG offers competitive and realistic pricing so our students can remain members for life and our practitioners are inspired to grow their practices within the EG community.
