Hey team! Here is the starter drills and exercises for practice. Make sure you are performing each action to the best of your ability. Practice does not make perfect, it makes permanent. Whatever you do in practice, you will do in competition. So practice the correct technique and make the correct actions the permanent actions.

All fencers:
-General Stretch 5 minutes
-Stretch lunge
-30 air squats
-25 Advance lunge recover retreat (vary speed each rep and reset lunge each rep)
-Saber takes double advance and hits mask on chair

-FOIL-
25 parry 4 repost (solo)
25 parry 4, circular 4 repost (solo)

-EPEE-
25 circular 6 repost (solo)
15 circular 6 repost partner
15 take 6 attack
25 wrist picks (top and inside)

-SABER_
25 parry 5 repost (advance lunge)
25 parry 4 repost (partner)
25 off the line speed double advance lunge (own the box)

***general format each practice may vary***

Class and team warm ups. To be started exactly at 6:00 or when fencers arrive. All fencers will complete before drilling begins.

-formal drill and instruction-

Open fencing- timer will be set for 6 minutes. At the conclusion of 6 minutes two new fencers will get on strip (or rotate for weapons with smaller team size) If no electric strip is available fencers should be reffing or fencing dry.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Virginia Cup this weekend! We had a lot of victories this year, including:
First place in Men's Team Epee
Second place in Women's Team Foil
First place in Men's Individual Epee by Charles Fernandez
Third place in Men's Individual Foil by Gabriel O'Dea
Fourth place in Men's Individual Epee by Danny Fernandez
And fourth place in Women's Individual Foil by Elizabeth Faison

These victories would never have been possible without the contributions to this club made by: Russell Gibson, Anthony O'Dea, Michael S. Jones and most of all Brandon Minter

Turns out we love to win, so lets keep that going.

Hey guys! We designed a jacket for the team. For members it is $70 and we will add your weapon (e.g Men's Foil) above the logo and your name under the logo on the chest. For non members or fans it is $80. Please message Gabriel O'Dea if you would like to order one. We will be placing the order on Monday so you need to let me know by then. If you do not let me know by Monday you have to wait until either the spring semester, or until 6 other people are willing to order as that is the minimum order size.

Virginia Cup day two: Women's Epeé took second over all, and Abbey Lawson made it to semi finals and took 4th. Women's foil took third. A great showing for the Flames this weekend and a lot of forward momentum to build on.
